I'm so sorry you are going through this, as I am struggling with this disorder myself!. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about taking something faster acting!. I take Lorazepam !.5mg (small dose due to pregnancy) twice daily or as needed!. It calms my nerves and allows me to do normal things!. I will tell you this though, I have spent many days and hours in my bed, not moving for days due to this disorder, and I wish it upon nobody!. I think to myself all of the time why this has happened to me when a year ago I was so normal!.!. I guess some just deal with the anxiety in their lives differently!.!. I'm trying my hardest to get through my pregnancy but its very hard!. I understand how miserable you are, trust me, and I am only 20!. My doctor put me on prozac but it makes me think bad thoughts, and worry more!. So I wouldn't suggest it!. It makes me fear that I could possibly hurt someone I love, although I know I never would, which leaves me crying for even thinking like that as I love my husband, and baby on the way!. I have stopped taking the prozac and am looking at something else to take but may not be able to take anything until after my pregnancy!. Anyways, I am just trying to let you know that you are not alone!. Try to relax and if you ever need to chat you can email or IM me!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I also have been fighting anxiety off and on for yrs and I would talk with your doctor and maybe you don't need the med all the time, maybe a med PRN (as needed)!. I take 1mg lorazepam for sleep and anxiety a day and I can take it if anxiety level gets too high!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest going to some group therapy sessions with others that have similar issues!. Trust me you're not alone and everyone deals with them differently because anxiety affects people differently!. Group therapy helped me find some coping techniques!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can discuss your ongoing problems with your physician and/or psychiatrist to see what other meds are available!.!.!.!.or!.!.!.!.
You can try some of the alternative treatments that are out there for anxiety!.
So !.!.!.about your nervous system!. Under stress the body kicks the adrenal glands into overdrive!. The adrenaline produced causes all the many symptoms associated with a panic attack, and more!. Stress reactions use up a lot of nutrients!.!.!.B vitamins, minerals and antioxidants!. The loss of these nutrients leave the body more vulnerable and more reactive to stress, and more prone to anxiety and panic attacks!. Kind of a vicious circle thing!.
A healthy diet is an absolute necessity for all of us, but especially when the nervous system is struggling!. Stay away from processed foods!. They are full of man made chemicals that are neuro-toxic and can cause or exacerbate anxiety symptoms!. Same goes for sugar!. Sugar burns up B vitamins, and you are already low on them!. [Pay attention when/if you do eat sugar, note how you feel before hand, then how you feel a half hour later, or an hour after that!.]
Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, some healthy protein and grains!. In addition to eating healthy, take a good multivitamin and mineral complex!.!.!.this is essential for proper functioning of the adrenal glands!. Take a B complex!. Good to start with a timed-release B100, take one daily for up to six months!. Then go to B50 (also timed-release), and stay on this dose for another six months!. After that the B content of your multivitamin may be sufficient, though you can take extra Bs when you are stressed!.!.!.it helps a lot!. Extra vitamin C will support the adrenals as well!. 50mg of zinc can have a calming effect on the central nervous system!.
There are many other supplements that help with stress related disorders!. Check out "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" for more information about nutrients that are specific to anxiety disorders!.

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc!.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc!.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level!.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication!. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac!. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings!. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac!. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc!.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced!.!.!. you have that "learned behavior" in your mind!. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this!. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction!.!.!. There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to!.!.!.!.

Antidepressants & anxiolytics often lose effectiveness, with time!. See anxiety treatments, at ezy build (below) in section 6!. Set yourself a specific time period for worrying about anything, (say; around three quarters of an hour, possibly when you get home, or after your evening meal, but not too close to bedtime) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even entertain the thought of worrying again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life!.

You will have had your "worry time" for the day, and can just write down any more thoughts that come to mind, and say to yourself: "Well, I'll just have to worry about that tomorrow, won't I!?"!. It is important to deal with a negative internal monologue (self talk), or mental process, such as disturbing thoughts, or images, by the process of (a): recognising it, and (b): challenging it immediately!.

When you notice something negative, such as: "I'm never going to get over this!" or: "Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser!?" or even: "I can't do this/will never get over this!", or a disturbing image, recognise that this is part of the mindset which will hold you back from progressing in your recovery!. Having identified and labelled it, I first visualise a large "STOP!" sign, then I say to myself as forcefully as I can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: "I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!" You may want to use either: "ruse", "ploy", "game", or "trick", instead of "tactic"!. In the case of an image, visualise a large "STOP" sign, or your preferred version!. Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary!. Remember to remove it, afterwards, if you use this method!.

Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed!. Alternatively, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you!. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind)!. Section 53, and pages 2, 2!.q and 2!.o at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself!." Neurofeedback treatment for anxiety is increasingly becoming available!. Herbal remedies, such as valerian, (which is not recommended for use if depression is also present) passionflower, or St!.John's wort, (German varieties recommended; vitamin & health food stores) are often effective, but the idea is, as with anxiolytic medication, to use them like water wings, or training wheels on a bicycle, providing initial support, and giving time for other treatments, such as therapy, and relaxation techniques, to take effect!.

A variant of Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective, is on page N, of section 6, and I use it before the relaxation techniques, because I have found that it makes them quicker to employ, and more effective!.

There are other medications that will help!. Zoloft is but one and it may need a dosage adjustment, or augmentation with something like Klonopin to keep the anxiety down!.

There's no need to suffer with anxiety today!. There are just too many tools the doctor has to treat this condition!. Don't suffer!

If need be, see a psychiatrist, as they are more likely to get you up and running sooner on the right combination!.

Incidentally, anxiety, panic, and depression are all close cousins and they like to visit one another often!. So don't let these mood swings freak you out!. Very normal and correctable with the right meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
