I can't sleep! help?!


Question: I can't sleep! help!?
i can't sleep at all yesterday i went to sleep at 8:30 but ended up going to real sleep at 11:10!. ive tried to drink warm milk and do something boring and i tried to relax my muscles too but nothing works!. what can i do besides going to the doctor or taking something!? please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure you are active during the day, do not consume any caffeinee after noon!. Try and eat breakfast and lunch, and then a light dinner, no heavy dessert either!. Turn off all machines in your bedroom, unplug the TV, create a soothing space to rest in!. Make your bed before you get in, take a shower or bath with lavender scents!. Before you get into bed sit cross legged on the floor and meditate for 5 minutes or so, if you can't think of anything, just say song lyrics in your head and think about what they mean!. When you get into bed, make sure the curtains are drawn so no headlights etc will shine in and wake you, close your door completely so you are alone!. Take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth!. Remember to allow yourself to rest, and that rest is almost as good as sleep!. If your mind is racing give it a pleasant task, like imagining what you will cook for breakfast, or what you will wear tomorow, etc!.

Turkey works better than warm milk!.

If you can't sleep, don't stay in your bed awake for too long!. Get up & do something 'boring' !.!.!. read a book or the newspaper for ten minutes, then go try again!.

A big reason why some people can't get to sleep at night is because their bedroom isn't associated with sleep!. There are too many noises; such as, a computer running, the tv playing, etc!. etc!. Also, if your room is messy, clutter disrupts your mind's ability to be at rest!. The bedroom should be used for sleeping & sex only!. Doing things like talking on the phone, reading, eating, etc!. in bed only makes your mind think that it isn't a place for rest!.

Also, about an hour before you'd like to hit the sack, avoid eating, excercise, and other stimulating activities!. Just let your body relax naturally!.
