Your physician is correct, some side effects are only temporary!. As far as weight gain, it all depends on which medication you're taking!. Luckily there are a variety of meds to treat your condition, so that if the one you're taking does cause weight gain you can find one that does not!. Also, ask the doctor if the weight gain is caused because it slows your metabolism or if it just makes you feel hungrier!. If it's the latter and you're feeling much better on you current protocol, it might be worth fighting a little weight gain with diet and exercise!.

I take meds that cause a large weight gain, but I have compensated by doing a weight management program - Weight Watchers!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the antidepressant!. It should say on the pack the possible side-effects!. With mine it was possible weight gain or appetite suppressant !.!.!. (very odd I know)!. Personally when I was taking 200mgs of Zoloft per day it suppressed my appetite so I ended losing about 10-15kgs!.
As time went on and my dosage changed to 50mgs p/day this has worn off and I now have a normal appetite!.

To your other question, many people notice effects quite quickly so its quite possible!.
Give your medication some time and if the side effects persist asked to have it changed!. There are plenty out there!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do a google search for side-effects of the drug and look up those!. If you are experiencing those side effects, let the doctor know immediately!.

See if the drug is listed on this site:
