What is the most mild Benzo?!
Question: What is the most mild Benzo!?
I have a dreaded, nerve wracking family visit coming up!. I'm already treated for depression with Wellbutrin and anxiety is not usually a problem!. But when these visits come around, anxiety just over takes me, and my usual coping mechanism is alcohol!.
My doc suggested maybe a benzo for these fun family occasions!. But I tried Klonopin in the past and was very sleepy and unable to function properly at the 1 mg dose, so I'm hesitant!.
Is there any of these short term anxiety pills that will take the edge off, but allow me to function normally!?
Thanks if you have any advice for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Ativan is a short-term acting benzodiazepine--this would be the best for your family function because you will be able to stay awake and be much calmer!. They can be habit forming, so talk with your doc about a good strategy for taking these!.
Try other relaxing techniques as well, stick to the family members that are the least anxiety provoking--and keep with the Wellbutrin!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ativan did absolutely nothing for me at all!. It sucked!. Until I took it on an empty stomach and then I was not only still anxious but I was physically ill!. Ativan does help some people though!. As with all meds, it is trail and error!.
There's xanax, of course, which is highly addictive but highly effective!. If you take it on a very rare basis you should be fine with it, but if you have a history of addiction or you cannot trust yourself to take it, you may not want to take it!.
There's valium, which I personally have not tried, but it works well for some people!.
I wish you luck!. Sorry I can't be of better help!. Just be careful with any benzos that you take!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could try Buspar!. It's not a benzo and not habit-forming at all!. It didn't do much for me, but my partner swears by it!. It has gotten lots of good feedback here on Y!A as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
