How do schizophrenics act how do you know the signs?!

Question: How do schizophrenics act how do you know the signs!?
Answers:
I've a friend who was diagnosed with schizophrenia when we were both about 20!.

Just before he was taken into hospital it was pretty clear that something serious was wrong with him!. He could hear hallucinations, but he didn't know it at the time, instead he thought people on the radio or in person were talking about him!. He told me of a lot of paranoid conspiracies that involved him and it was pretty clear that they were not true!. For example he thought that a top 10 song had been written about him because a lyric described something that could be found in his room, the band had played in the nearest city to our town, and someone in his work had relatives in this city!.

This was about 8 years ago and he hasn't had a relapse in years!. He takes medication (I'm afraid I don't know what type) and while you could tell that there is something strange about him if you talked to him I don't think it is obvious that it is schizophrenia he has!.

I'll list some of the odd ways he behaves now, but I don't know if they are due to his illness, his medication, his personality, or because he stays in all day by himself:

1) Short attention span - he can ask a question or make a statement and before I have finished replying say something completely unrelated
2) Rarely exercises - he says this is due to how his medication makes him feel
3) A lot of fears of minor things
4) Not very emotional - I haven't seen him angry, sad or upset although he does laugh quite a lot
5) A lot of plans that he doesn't follow through on
6) Doesn't seem to care about his appearance - his hair is long and he always seems to wear the same old clothes
7) Occasionally says inappropriate things - a few of our female friends have complained to me about him, and he has talked about our teenage cannabis use within earshot of my parents and neighbours
8) Occasionally (only a few times a year) talks about some of his more bizarre conspiracies is if they are true - vast criminal conspiracies, multiple dimensions or mass hypnosis, but unlike when he was ill at first he seems relatively unconcerned by them

Ah, sorry!. It seems like I have went on a bit!. What I'm trying to say is that there is a chance that a schizophrenic may have no signs of their illness at any particular time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tricky, not as the stereotype would suggest and there are many manifestations of schizophrenia!.
Most people get it confused with multiple personality disorder, which it isn't!.
I lived with a schizophrenic for a while!. She was very withdrawn and suffered from massive bouts of paranoia and depression!. She said when it was at it's worst the voices queued up in her head to tell her how crap and worthless she was!. She never acted like a different person or assumed a different personality!.
But this is just one case in what is a wide spectrum of symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hiya, i have just studied schizophrenia!. there are three types of symptoms!.!.!.positive/negative/psychomotor!.!.!.
each group has a range of symptoms!. some include!.!.!.delusions (such as delusion of granduar-they think they have a high status)!. they may feel they are being controlled by radio signals for example!. they have a low social skills as with the schizophrenia one of the symptoms is problems with communications, they seem to switch from topic to topic, make up new words (neoglisms) or rhyme words with no logical meaning!.
schizophrenics often believe that people are talking about them (paranoid schizophrenia)!.
hope this helps xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

schizophrenia is a cluster of symptoms- a syndrome, to use the medical term!. to try to describe it is like describing lets say, the types of human beings!. there are so many types and even subtypes and classifications!. nobody can say their classification is the best because we still have so many unanswered questions about this disease!. the reason why i am writing is- beware of thinking its just ' hallucinations' or 'delusions' or 'amotivation'!. if u really want reliable information , check out the american psychiatry association website or any website belonging to a psychiatric association of any country!. best is, get in touch with a psychiatrist, especially if u doubt somebody u know might have it!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

from what i've read, it varies greatly!.!.!.not all types of schizophrenia have hallucinations and usually they're just auditory if they do!. they'll probably act paranoid!.!.but it takes alot of psychological testing to determine schizophrenia, not just signsWww@Answer-Health@Com

From what I heard they become very paranoid, they might think that someone is out there to "get them", that they are being followed, their conversations are being eavedropped on, the may have hallucinations (they hear or see things that other do not see or hear!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Schizophrenia takes on many forms!. Some hear voices, others have multiple personalities!. The symptoms vary from person to person and can be a big mix!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
