Can a lot of this depression and anxiety going around be cured with some effort, without meds!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
of course you can coure it without meds!.
It's a matter of dealing with the current issues!. If you unhappy with where you are in life then the only person who can change that is you, it takes courage not meds!.

I am glad that you asked this question because I think that "depression" is too blanket of a term!. Grant it some people really do have a chemical issuse but not as many as the doctors would have you believe!.

Kudos to you for toughing it out and dealing with your issues and not falling prey to the pharmacetical companies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sure can, but some people are just not "wired" to even use coping skills without the meds!.

FOR EXAMPLE, in a stressful situation, one may just resort to just getting angry, frustrated, and even go off the emotional deep end instead of even thinking to attempt breathing exercises and trying to reason through the situation!. For some people, the meds may just slow their mind down enough to make them able to deal with a stressful situation in a clear, logical manner!. Other people that are on meds are lacking the neurological chemicals (serotonin, for example) to properly cope!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's all biology, not psychology:
Anxiety/depression are due to a chemical imbalance in the brain (usually serotonin)
Chemical imbalances are due to a poor diet!.
"Brain chemicals" such as serotonin are made from amino acids!.
Amino acids come from protein!.
Eating enough protein every day gives your body the "raw materials" it needs to create brain chemicals!.

Since muscles, hair, nails, skin, and eyes are made of protein as are the cells that make up the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, nerves, brain, and your sex glands, if you don't eat enough protein, various parts of the body (and brain) will suffer!.
Drugs don't provide amino acids!.
A change in diet and lifestyle + behavioral therapy (coping skills) if needed will cure anxiety and depression!.
It's not rocket science, it's basic biology and really very simple!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, Anxiety can't be cured without medicine!. It'll take time, but I do know that medicine and theraphy can help a lot!. I suffer with Anxiety/Depression also!. It also depends on your Anixety level; Some people can cope and some people can't!. Since your not a suffer, Find different ways to cope; When I get depressed; I write in my journal!. Coping is different for everyone so you just have to find out what works best for you!.
Medicine is only given when it's bad and you can't find a way to cope at all!. I have a chemical imbalance so it's not anything I worked up myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

interestingly, several studied have been done on people with depression, using drugs usually used to treat depression, and placebos, though without letting those getting the drugs know the experiment was happening of course!. In one study the placebo's had a 2% lower success rate, and in another if had a 5% greater one!. When those taking part were told, everyone immediately regressed back to the same level of depression or worse, than they had had before the trials!.
so the point seems to be, for much of the less severe depression about today (and for that which is not depression, as many who are labelled as depressed today have other reasons for this other than depression which us a mental problem, such as the death if a loved one recently, which doctors do not ask about and so do not take into account), how the taking of meds gives them 'coping skills'!. Depression is the most commonly diagnosed problem in the western world, and the 3/4 in the ledc (after aids, malaria!.!.!.)!.
the problem is people do not have coping skills', and taking the mads gives it to them!. So, do we do what some doctors in the US do and unbeknown to their patients give them placebo's so they don't get the negative side effects, or do we refuse all meds to non-serious cases (which do NEED medicine) and thus encourage them to develop unaided coping skills', and trust that because they don't have serious depression they will survive!?
Now that is an interesting dilema!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best results are reached when coping skills and medications are used together!.

There are a few options other than medication that could help depression!. But I've only been helped by therapy + medication!.
