How rapid is rapid cycling bipolar disorder?!
Question: How rapid is rapid cycling bipolar disorder!?
Answers:
It depends on the person!. 4 or more mood episodes a year are considered rapid cycling!. Somebody that cycles back and forth over several days or weeks is considered an ultra rapid cycler!. Shifts back and forth within the same day are called ultra-ultra or ultradian cycling!.
Rapid cycling is more common in children with bipolar, or adults that had childhood-onset BP (but it's also seen in patients without these factors)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

rapid cycling is usually different from person to person and there is no real "guideline" as to how often a person with BP can or will cycle!. the best thing i can tell you is:
talk to your proffesional healthcrae provider and if he/she don't know the answer talk to a psychiatrist!. don't listen to the stuff "floating around" on the net because you DON"T know if what the people there say is relevant to you!. rely on the proffesionals whom you can talk to face to face!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

More than four mood shifts in a year but less than in one day!. In one day would be ultra rapid cycling and it is very rare for anyone out of childhood!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It can be as fast as a couple of cycles a day, but for most it is a few days to a week for a rapid cycleWww@Answer-Health@Com
