Question: Do you see suicide as a selfish act!?
My cousin committed suicide a few days ago and left be hind a wife and 3 beautiful daughters!. They are devastated, and so full of guilt!. They think if only we would of said something or done something different, maybe he would still be here!.

My brother committed suicide 5 years ago; I'm still not over it!. He did not have children but had a long term girlfriend who cheated on him!. Apparently it was the last straw he could deal with at that moment in time that threw him over the edge!.
She did not want to have any religious service and only had a memorial for him!.
For my own healing, I arranged for a Lutheran minister to officiate at a funeral service--I did invite his girlfriend, and her comment was it would only "piss him off": however, she attended and found the service healing--as did I!.
I love my brother and miss him, but seriously, I still have anger that he chose such a selfish act to deal (or not deal) with his problems!.

Dear Betsy, I'm sorry for your loose!.I don't know if I'd really call it selfish!. I have been suicidal myself, in years gone by!. I wasn't so much thinking about myself as I was as to how others would be better off without me!. I felt I was holding them back from a better life!. I don't know what your cousin was going though when he committed this act, but I'm sure he must have been in a world of despair, seeing no way out!. May the good Lord bless his soul and welcome into his heavenly kingdom!. I will be praying for you and your family as you go though this trying time in your lives!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Some believe suicide is cowardly BUT I believe it does take real courage to actually commit the dead of killing yourself!.
I am sorry he chose to do this as it's the family and friends that are left behind that suffer the real damage!. You all will be forever saying to yourselves "IF only I had said or done!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
BUT it may still not have made any difference!.

I believe there are two instances where it is not - terminal medical illness and terminal mental illness!. By terminal, I mean all treatments have been tried and failed!. The difference between the two is how long it takes for the physical clock to run out!.

You can get stuck on a bitter, resentful pill, or you can help the family grieve in a more healthy way!. They will have their own guilt!. it really does depend on the situation!. If you don't have any mental illness than yes, it is selfish!. but than again its their choice, they do it out of comfort, to get rid of the stress, most likely they have something going on with their life because people don't out of nowhere say "i'm going to commit suicide" but besides from trauma in peoples life and mental illness i see no reason in making a permanant dicision like killing yourself!!! i'm soo sorry for your loss and i really hope you and your family seek comfort, love and support cause you all are probably still in shock from the loss, suicide is hard to deal with cause it makes you feel gulity AND its random so all my love is for u and your family!. take care ?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unless you are looking forward to eating a bullet or flying off a high building then you just don't understand how compelling suicidal thoughts feel!.

From the dead person's point of view it was the only way they could think of to end their pain!.

well there are selfish saids to it and there earnt
some would call it selfish because your taking your life with no regard to how your freinds and family would feel about it

He can do what he wants, he probably did it for a good reason, I think its kind of rude to just announce this to the whole internet, sure it may be a bit of a coward way out, but I dealt with suicide as well (as in a tried many times) and i was never selfish, it was because everyone neglected me and i was constantly being hurt in one way or another, so no i dont think it is selfish at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I can't really answer this because for one I don't know what life is like for you cousin!. I've never had depression but I could imagine it was torture to not feel happiness!. and may I add it is something that they cannot help!. They need professional help!. Therefore I cannot say!.!. which leads to another question

Of course you may feel he has been selfish!. but think how much courage it took for him to end his life!. I believe people who are about to commit suicide, must be so mentally unstable that they really have no concept on what they are about to do!. They are at breaking point, feel as if they have no one to turn too!. Even if they have!.!.!.!. they must feel so alone, and truley believe there is no other way!. I think many suicides (successful and unsuccessful) have elements of aggression and hostility in them!. The person committing suicide thinks, "I'll kill myself, *then* they'll be sorry!." And, of course, they're right!.

No i dont!.!. !. they are feeling so much darkness that wont go away!. plp need to look out for signs!.!. << ive been there!. taking your own life is a sence of peacefulness !. in other words no other way out!.!.
