Am I just insane? Why does no one believe me?!

Question: Am I just insane!? Why does no one believe me!?
I think there's a possibility I could have depression and social anxiety disorder!. Depression -- probably since I was 14-15 (I'm almost 19 now), and Social Anxiety Disorder -- as long as I can remember, but no one seems to believe me that this is possible!. My family thinks that I'm just looking for an excuse to say I have problems so that I can blame everything on being depressed, and my boyfriend thinks I'm just "different/over-emotional, but normal"!. I've thought of the possibility that they're right!.!.!.but then why has this lasted for so long and I haven't done anything about it!? Basically, what I'm asking is, are they right or could I need medical help that I don't realize I need!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Shame on them! It sounds very much so like you do!. Look you are not insane!. Most people do not understand what it is like!. I do not personally go through this, but some one very very close to me does so I have an idea!. Do get help!. Therapy, counseling groups are great!.!.talking with others who share the same problems does help a good amount!. Have you thought about medication before!? Also, when you get down try to do something to keep busy!. I know its hard when you get to that point, but it does help!.!.I see it! As hard as it may be to not get mad at them, try to understand that most do not begin to comprehend something like this since they do not know what its like! But I am happy to hear that you want to do something about it! That is the first very big step! Also, if you and your boyfriend are serious take him (or a family member) with you to a counseling session, so they can get a better idea! Good luck =)

Ps!. One can have a boyfriend and have this going on!. Doesn't mean their situation isn't "that bad"!.!.now if he is abusive (which he doesn't sound like he is) then that isn't good, but that is never good in ANY situation!. You go girl, stick with someone who makes you happy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you need to go ahead and schedule an appointment with a counselor!. Social Anxiety is enough to get help in itself!. Believe me, I'm trying to deal with it alone and it's not helpful!. But you need someone to TELL you what you are experiencing, you can't diagnose yourself!. And it's dangerous to your mental health to not get the help you deserve!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you do need help!. You realize your symptoms and those are symptoms of depression and social anxiety disorder (I suffer from both)!. I think your family just doesn't really understand about mental illnesses which is why they suggest that you are just looking for excuses!. I hope that you're able to get some help and I hope that your family supports you because support is important!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't understand cutting and to me it is insane!. If you are doing it and also have suicidal thoughts then you really need help!. In my opinion THEY are not right!

Good luck in getting treatment, good mental health, peace and Love!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you aren't insane - you are just suffering from anxiety and depression!. it would be helpful for you to speak to a counselor who specializes in this treatment!. You might find one you trust!. It is possible to lessen the fear of people and learn to love yourself!. What you are experiencing is common!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are depressed and need help!. If your mom and dad will not help, ask you school counselor for help!. They can refer you to someone!. What you describe is not normal!. And it will only get worse!. There are other places such as your local phone book under "Mental Health" in the government pages, county!. They will help you!. And they will also talk to mom and dad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do get help without waiting any longer!. You must already have a Dr and are on meds, so discuss this with your Dr!. If you are taking meds and have not told your Dr about cutting yourself, you need to because without telling about the cutting you might be prescribed meds that might cause you to become completely suicidal!. Get help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

GET HELP NOW!! Tell your parents that you need help now, be adamant about it!. Make a deal with them if a psychiatrist/therapist says there's nothing wrong you will accept it, if not they need to understand your problems and quit living in denial!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you need to see a professional counselor, they will evaluate your symptoms and tell you for sure if you are ill or not get an evaluation put your mind at restWww@Answer-Health@Com

all this!.!.!.yet you have a boyfriend!?
Your social stuff cant be too bad thenWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well, you definately sound like you are depressed and it's been going on for way too long now!. You're 18 now, almost 19, so you are technically an adult!. Make an appointment with your regular doctor and talk to him/her about what you've been feeling!. They will not have the right to tell your parents without your consent, so don't worry about it if you don't want them to know!. Or, your doctor could schedule a meeting with your parents, per your request, to help them to understand your condition better!. Meanwhile, your doctor will probably either provide you with anti-depressants that will work on both the depression and the social anxiety or he/she will refer you to a specialist, such as a Psychiatrist, for medication as well as therapy!. Either way, you should act now, because you've suffered enough!. I wish you luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, your family is pulling that old-fashioned "it's all in your head" thing that results in self-destructed children!. And then they (posthumously) blame the victim!. It sounds to me like you're clinically depressed!. There's a chemical imbalance in your brain and it can be corrected by certain drugs, but you have to see someone to have them prescribed (and to make sure that's what you need)!.

My wife's best friend was in a similar situation--her friend was just inexplicably depressed and couldn't get out of it!. She insisted her friend get professional help; the friend saw someone, took what was prescribed, and she's all better now!. Completely back to normal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are probably feeling a deep emotional pain that cannot be made better by cutting or be cured on your own!. My guess is that your family is used to you acting this way and just assume that it is your personality or phase!. Without their support it can be hard getting help!. You need to go to a doctor or clinic and tell them what you told us!. You suffer from depression!.!.!.with self abuse!.!.!.and suicidal thoughts occasionally!. This isn't something that should be put off!. I think you need help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With mental illness we always ask the person: how do you feel!? Is this problem affecting your life!? How is it affecting your life!? Is it stopping you from achieving what you want to achieve!? Is it stopping you from living a full life!? See!.!.!.it is always about YOU! Who is to tell YOU that you have no problem!? Do they know how you feel!? Have they felt the way you have!?
I advise you to seek help if you are suffering as a result from this!. Only you know what this feels like and only you know that this is not the way you want to live!. Get help and don't listen to other people!. Mental illness is still a taboo subject in our society!. People don't want to admit that someone they know might be affected by it!. It's a scary, novel subject!. I suggest you get help if you want to have a full and happy life!.

All the best!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
