I need to talk to someone?!

Question: I don't know what's going on with me. I have been feeling really depressed for a few days. Then really happy. I believe in myself and love myself then I want to die. Sometimes it gets so bad i think about killing myself. How do I tell mom I want to talk to someone who can help me. I don't know why I'm feeling like this. My friend thinks I'm bipolar or have depression. I'm scared to ask. I don't want her to think I'm crazy

You sound very bipolar, right down to your feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty. Don't let those highs fool you into thinking that it has passed and you'll be all right now. This may be why you think your mom won't believe you. You know from experience now that the high passes and your mood swings to the other extreme. It doesn't stabilize. That is a sign of a bipolar disorder. You are not crazy, but the imbalance that creates this disorder is making you crazy. It can be corrected.
It's also true that acute anxiety is a symptom of a bipolar disorder. Wild mood swings of acute fear and anxiety could be what make you worry that your mom won't believe you. It's just the disorder. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with your mom.
Give yourself a chance to think about this. Sit down and think what you want to say. Make a list. It's all to easy to get there with your mom and have everything leave you and you can't remember a thing. I think this is what worries you the most.
They will put you on a prescription but it's very cheap and affordable as far as meds go. You will have to stay on it for the rest of your life, but once you are medicated you will calm down and be just as normal as anyone else. You could be as right as rain within a few days.Take heart, this works.
I hope this helps you.

Hormones?

It does sound like you are bipolar, talk to a proffesional, your freind doesnt have to know, and your mental health should come first before embarrasment, a lot worse things can happen if you dont seek help. Good luck to you.

Talk to your Mom and don't listen to armchair psychologists trying to diagnose you. She'll want to know this and she'll listen. What you need to remember is you are not the first one to feel this way, in fact a lot of people do. I know I've gone through similar circumstances. We human beings are complicated creatures but sometimes the simplest things can be the best cure. Just telling your Mom will make you feel better, believe me.

just tell everything you wrote there to both your parents and a psychiatrist. I'm sure they'll find a solution. tell your friend too. dont be scared.

don't be afraid we all go through terrible things ask 4 help before u die!!!

You really need to talk to a professional about this. I'm not a professional, but it really sounds like a Bipolar type of situation, with the ups and the downs. A medication prescribed by your doctor could really help even out your emotions.

If you are too young to go to the doctor by yourself, then you should really tell your mom how you feel, including the really lows that you feel. This way she will understand how serious you are about getting help.

Best wishes.

I'd agree that it is hormones... how old are you? Trust me, I know what its like to have the world look at you as a nutcase, and it isn't fun. I totally understand your hesitations there.

Your mom will not think you are crazy. She wants to know, believe me. Just sit her down, tell her you need her time, and talk. If she can't help you than she will find someone that can. Just knowing something is wrong is a big step. Now get off the computer and go get your mom. Good luck to you.

Kinda the same thing with me... I think mine's gonna get better, because it's because of the stupidest reason - hair.

Last year, I didn't even notice it, but a lot of people looked up to me, there were at least 4 girls that asked me out, I was invited to EVERY thing that happened, from football games to make-out parties (lmao). I went on a trip to Australia during January, and the stupid barber cut my hair REALLY short (I don't have super-mega long hair or anything, but the front reaches my forehead). So I come back, and now it's like almost EVERYONe ignores me. I'm hoping my self-esteem will come back with my hair >:O.

It's weird though, but I think it's normal, you're not bipolar. Just tell SOMEONE. I heard about this type of study in psychology where patients who just needed to tell SOMEONE but didn't have anyone they trusted. They went on the internet, to some chat room, or just anyone they know online, and they tell them. It's kinda smart, actually. Tell someone all about your problems, but they don't know you, and can't call you a freak or anything. I've never tried it, but maybe you should.

Don't listen to the 1st answer!

Just tell your mum how you are feeling and find a good counsellor or therapist to work through this with.

Also get help from your family doctor.

Good luck x

Hey hun, although I am not a therapist, I am on my way to obtaining my degree in psychology. First, it is a wonderful thing and a great first step that you have realized that you have a problem. This is nothing to be embararased about at all. If you want some help right away, speak with a counselor in your school. This service is free and many students do not realize that these facilities are available to them. Talking to mom can be a bit upsetting but you need to anyway. You see, if she looks at you and does not realize that there is an issue, then she can not help you. Reguardless if she thinks you are "crazy" or not, she may be able to help you find further help. The best thing you can do is be open and honest about your feelings with the people who love you in their life so that you can get the help you need. You are by no means crazy, rather at a tough point in your life where you need someone to listen to your needs.

Ist of all, I do not think your mom will think you are crazy. She loves you & wants what is best for you. 2nd, if you really are that afraid to tell her right now you need to call someone for help before your thoughts turn into actions. If you can maybe take a depression quiz. there is one at www.depression-screening.org. There is also an 800 num. on there to call. 1800-273-8255. As far as finding out if you are bipolar there are all sorts of websites you can find by googleing "Symptoms of Bipolar. Read through the symptoms if there are alot that relate to you then you really need to talk to your mom & get help. I have a daughter who is bipolar & without the right treatment it will only get alot worse for you & your family. Same goes for depression. You need help right away, again I suggest you take a deep breath & talk to your mom. Good Luck.

Hun I'm the same way. I have depression. I told my mom and talk to a doctor about it. I don't care if someone thinks I'm crazy. Do you want to feel better or not? screw people who think you are crazy because you are not. Do not act on killing yourself.

If you were my daughter, I would want to know. Talk to your mom - or assuming you're a teen student - talk to someone at your school! (school social worker, etc).
You're not alone lots of teens feel like this - - and talking and journaling really help.

I wish you all the best! Take care of yourself - and just remember "have hope " during your dark days!

If you live in the midwest - we've hard a hard winter - spring and summer -warm weather and sunshine are ahead and that can really help!

I suggest you go and talk to your mother if she is really understanding. If she's not, then go and find an adult who is understanding and tell them how you are feeling.

Also, depending on what stage in life you are in, you go thru that. Usually it's in your mid-teens. What ever you do, don't kill yourself. That's not the answer. There is always tomorrow if you don't take your life. Remember that God loves you and if you kill yourself you'll end up in Hell.

Now that's torture.

I wish you the best!

Hi Haley, how are you,I think you need a peofessinal help, speaking is no problem, you can find a lot of people like me who can listen to you,but we can not help you much,so it's better to take a real professional help, and talking to your mother will be big help to you,if you like you should talk to her and she can guide you.I wish you good luck and get well and don't take it so heavily, soon it will be over.

you mom loves you more than you can imagine. if you sit her down and just say everything that has been going through your head, trust me she will help you in any way she can. if you dont feel comfortable for some reason telling your mom you can go to your school guidance counselor or teacher. they have the resources to help you and can set up an appointment with the school psychologist (or a psychologist near your home) as soon as possible. a trained psychologist is the only one who can tell you if you are bipolar or not. please get help before it gets worse

Let me tell you the meds I am on and maybe you won't feel so bad! : Lithium/Depakote/Zanax/Lexapro/Zyprexa . I have problems to and the BEST thing I EVER did for myself was get a counselor. She is wonderful and I can talk to her knowing she won't judge me. Just bring it up to you're mom like you did here. Tell her how important to you it is that you do talk to someone before something really bad happens. I am also Bipolar and with medication it's hard but without it's almost unbearable! Good Luck :o)

Well, you are crazy. Find the beauties in life, even when there are none around you.
