I think I actually like having mental problems?!

Question: I have a lot of mental problems such as social anxiety, nervousness, and depression (all self-diagnosed), but for some reason I think I actually like having these problems. No one knows about these problems, but I think the reason I want to continue to have these problems is because I want a friend or a family member to find out my mental state and help me through it. But I keep to myself so much about these things that no one would except me to be this way. I am really shy (due to social anxiety) around people that no one can see my problems like I hope they will. Is this normal at all? How can I stop this?

I know how you feel. It's hard when you need people to notice, but they just don't. I don't think it's that you really WANT to have these issues (depression/anxiety), but more of a you know that if they ever saw it, they'd be concerned and that's a very normal feeling. Attention is never a bad thing to want. However, if you keep having these feelings, it might lead to other issues, such as self-harm (which has already happened), eating disorders, ect. Maybe you could talk to a counselor? I'm sure if you talked to your family, they'd be concerned? And they help you get treatment.

I want to raelly stress the getting help thing, because as much as it sucks, people usually won't notice unless something extreme happens to get their attention, and that's never a good thing. I wish it wasn't like that, but it is. I really hope you start to feel better. :) Email me anytime. I'm always here to listen.

You aren't your problems - you're not *you* because you have them. You simply have them and can take medication for them and do therapy, etc. Go to a professional to get correctly diagnosed.

idk but i'm starring

My question to you would be: why and how are you credible to be self-diagnosing yourself? Do you have a degree? You cant test yourself for a couple of those problems you mentioned anyways. It sounds like, you really want attention and you are, if anything mental, a hypocondriac.

Seek a good psychiatrist as fast as possible. Such issues will not bring people into your life that are concerned for you. Such behaviors only hurt you and leave you more alone than when you started.
Border line personalities are known for "wanting them to know how much I hurt." It is best to be honest with yourself and those that you do care about. Find a doctor and the right therapist and the right meds. You have to show yourself how much you love yourself before others can ever truly love you.

First of all if you cannot stop harming yourself, then you need a psychologist to help you. You probably do need medications also, right now. Harming your self over losing some one is something that I do understand. I did the same when I lost my mother. It is emotional with anger, depression, and some times self-hate behind it. Please go get help with a real doctor now!

You probably don't even have half of what you are self diagnosing yourself with. It sounds like you want attention. Depression is not funny, neither are the other mental illnesses you listed.

Self diagnosing isn't very accurate at all.
