Any quick fixes for being emo?!


Question: I've been dealing with depression since childhood. No joke, my first attempt at suicide i was ten-years-old. "You should kill yourself" has been the mantra circulating through my head for 9 years now, although i've only considered acting on it few times. It wasn't until this past six months that i actually decided to get some help. I waited this long because i am terribly embarassed. I went to a therapist, which wasn't worth much, but i've made an effort to really live. Just wondering, what are some things i can do to cheer myself up when i'm not doing well?

First of all, congratulations on wanting to live. 8 bajillion people have depression, including me, so you never have to feel alone.
Second of all, wtf are you embarrassed about? You see a doctor if your having severe physical problems, right?

Thirdly, I think your problem is a little more serious then finding things to cheer yourself up". I mean that in the nicest way. I went to a therapist for YEARS and it did very little for me. Then I started seeing a hypnotist, and I got a drastic change out of just one session. Meaning, you need to find a therapist who is compatible with you. Also, you can't hold back. They've heard EVERYTHING, they will not judge you.

do you have a close friend you can talk to when you're down?
Find something you enjoy soing

Get over it, or just do it. Get laid. Pay a hooker if you have to.
Take up a hobby. Get a new mantra. Buy new clothes, jerk off in the shower, go back to school, or if you are in school, actually do the lessons. Cook your favourite meal, from scratch. Get a massage.

and so is hurting urself.
its gr8 that u went to get urself help, that shows a lot of growth and strength in a person.
ive nvr been an actually depressed person but wen im sad i like to watch funny movies or tv shows, I Love Lucy always cheers me up (so does Spongebob as a matter of fact!)
having some chocolate has actual scientific proof that it cheers u up
if u hav a pet, (i hav dogs) go outside, play with them, hav fun!
go out and see ur friends too, if ur close with ur family, them too!
im sorry if these answers seem vain but plz try and live ur life happily and plz dont kill urself!

Talking to people always makes me feel better. You should e-mail people on Y!A. If you are embarrassed about these things you could talk it out with someone who will listen without seeing them face-to-face.
