I have a few questions for the ones who cut?!

Question: 1-Why did you start?/how long did you cut?
2-how old were you?
3-does anyone know?
4-It hurts right?
5-when you cut how do you feel? for example my friend used to cut. She told me that cutting made her feel "free". When she cut all the bad feelings just went away for a while. This is for a paper I'm writing.

1-I started cutting because I just hated myself. Everyone was hurting me and I was really depressed. I did not love myself. I felt like nothing worthless.

2-I cut for 3years/I started cutting at 14

3-No one knew. I hid it very well for 3years. Until my best friend found out and told my mom.

4-Yes it does hurt. That's the whole point of cutting. I was just so sad and alone in the inside I had no idea how to deal

5-When I cut I was happy and everything was okay. Time just stood still

I started because my life is hell.
I still do it. (15)
I started when i was just 12.
Yes, My mother and friends know, and teachers.
It Puns. Yes.
You feel in control, your the one with the authority, that you are the one that knows what they are doing, and what they are doing is right.

- Btw it's not a good thing to start doing ( just incase this isn't for a paper )

oxo

I cut when I was 14 I did it because my dad got cancer and was given 6 months to live. No one knew except my friend, she told on me. It hurts but not so bad you want to stop. When I did it things felt better. I don't do it anymore when I got older I found out the reason why cutting is addictive. Cutting releases adorfins in your brain and adorfins make you happy so it is a short fix but it works but depression medicine would probably work a hell of a lot better, your happy feeling would last longer.

1- I started because one of my "friends" kind of took over my group of friends and criticized everything about me...Basically she made my life a living Hell.

2-I was 12 turning 13 when I started. (I'll be 14 in a week and I still do it)

3-A few of my online friends know and anyone whose read/answered previous questions of mine know but none of my friends or family know.

4-Yeah it hurts, but in a good way. For me the physical pain kinda blocks out the emotional pain and gives me something else to focus on.

5-Before I cut I usually feel hopeless, numb, and depressed. Once I do I feel somewhat relaxed, like there's more then just emotional pain, and I'm not numb to everything. Then shortly after I feel a lot of regret because giving into the urge to cut makes me feel weak, like I'll never be able to quit. I can't speak for everyone who cuts but that's how I usually feel.

Hope I helped...

i started becsue of a breakup. i was 26. everyone knew about it and within a month i lost about 35 lbs. it kinda hurt but then i was drunk as hell. i did in in a candle lit room with slipknot blasting. i did it because i was in a relationship that the girl i was dating was playing with my head and so was her kid. i was used by both and didnt see it. my family called the police on me and the austin police department came and tokk me to a mental institution for about six days. i stopped because it was hurting my family and friends more than it was hurting me. did it feel good, yes and no. i thought i should do it for the pain and thought i deserved it and needed to be punished. that and then after a while i was getting off on the blood and the pain. it was replacing a night of good sex which is very odd. but i did it and now im thankful to be alive.

1- its the only thing i think of doing when i get really mad or upset. i still cut
2- i was 12 now im 13
3- only 4 of my friends know
4- sometimees it hurts
5-when i cut i feel much better i feel like all of the anger i ahve is out and nothing is bothering me

1. I started when I was like... 11 or 12. I cut for about 2 years, stopped for a year, and then cut for a month or so, but now I'm good. So basically I was fully done when I was 16 and now I'm 17.

2. ^ ^

3. No one knew while I was cutting, but now my friends know, and I'm glad they know because they keep me from trying.

4. No, it kind of gives you a feeling of euphoria and total bliss if you're a cutter, if you're not, you'll probably just be like "Huh??? People actually do this?"

5. ^ ^

Good luck with your paper, but please don't try to cut. =] It ruins your life, believe me. If it doesn't ruin your life *while* you're cutting, it ruins your life later when you have to look at the scars and people call you emo, and you're wearing sweaters constantly.

Edit: If you want to read something that shows cutting in a different sort of way, the series Specials by Scott Westerfeld has cutting portrayed in a strange way, it's interesting though if you read it. The cutting is in 2 of the books - Specials and Extras, (the last two) and I think there's a bit in Pretties ( the 2nd). You don't have to read them, just a suggestion. =]

1. I started cutting myself because I felt like my life was going down the drain and there was no other way for me to express my feelings so I just chose to cut. I've been cutting for about 2 months.

2. I was 14

3. Many of my friends know and people who have helped answer my questions about cutting on here.

4. Well when I first cut it doesn't hurt but after like 5 minutes I can feel the sting.

5. When I cut I don't really know what I feel...I feel somewhat accomplished and that I did a good thing, but after awhile I feel guilt a lot of guilt because I know that I did something really bad.

Well I hope I helped a little.
