Is St Johns Wart effective in helping depression?!

Question: Yes. I've heard it's actually more effective then your standard antidepressants like prozac and zoloft. In Europe, you actually have to have a prescription for it (unlike the U.S) and it is VERY popular there.

Yes, St. John's Wort has been proven to help with mild to moderate depression.

Some say that it can help in mild depression, but I had tried to use, and didn't have any cause to think that it was helping at all...Discuss this with your doctor. They may be able to say whether it will work for you or not.

Kind of.

Here is my experience:

It does not give me prescription-type benefits. Prescriptions take away my constant worry and makes me feel decent about myself and my life.

St John's wort lessens the worry, and makes me feel ok for a while. Sometimes with it, my mood crashes. And you have to take lots of pills. But I cannot afford a doctors visit right now, and it is better than nothing.

I think I have more than "mild to moderate" depression - but some people rely on it solely and say it works for them.

It does interact with some meds, though, so make sure you read labels on any prescriptions you get!

Milissa if your suffering from major depression St. Johns Wort won't help. St. John Wort are not strong enough, I use St.Johns wort when I can't buy Prozacs and if I'm off Prozacs for to long then I'll use the St. Johns wort because they do help some what but eventually I have to go back to Prozacs

Yes

It worked for me
