My therory, you like?!

Question: i have a simple therory about life. it is counter-intuative for the most part. ie do the things you dont want to do. feel inscure dating, on the job, giving a speech...act the opposite. feel like sitting around all day...go to the gym. feel like giving in to anxiety and fear...do something that would be considered the opposite such as do something that involves risk and fear. feel like telling your spouse that you are afraid of loosing them and that you are jealous...tell them that you love them and have no fear about your future together. i know that this is probably nothing new, a combination of things like "fake it till you make it" and "being proactive". but my point is that maybe life is as easy as doing exactly the opposite of what we "feel" like doing at any given moment...it's probably the right thing to do :) your thoughts?...

That's George Costanza's theory lol.

George: "It became very clear to me sitting out there today, that every decision I've ever made, in my entire life, has been wrong. My life is the opposite of everything I want it to be. Every instinct I have, in every aspect of life, be it something to wear, something to eat ... It's all been wrong. "

You're right to a degree. Have you ever been stricken with debilitating depression? Some days it is hard to just breathe, let alone get up out of bed.

Once out of bed, though, your theories are good advice.

I do like !

a way to transform negative into positive - wonderful :)

Feelings are like the weather, they come and they go. An advantage of manic depression is that you know first hand just how true this statement is. There is something deeper within a person that speaks a deeper truth. That is the part of you to listen. Btw, what you describe is being counter phobic, running contrary to your fears. It can be a personality type or a coping mechanism for dealing with life. There are more successful ways, however. I'm not suggesting that it's good to give into fears, just to understand them and deal with the cause instead of just the surface presentation.
