So.... Ehhh... I quit smokin weed a few months ago...?!

Question: not out of deliberate effort or anything... mostly because I kept forgetting too... which in and of itself was an indication to me that it was time to take an extended break...
Anyhow, I have smoked it for quite a long time but would just get bored with it and stop for a few years at a time and never really found any issues that have come out of it but... this last time I have been getting these like... really extreme mood swings and such. Kinda messin with me head a lil bit... I had a friend pass away pretty recently as well so I guess I been a lil stressed out about that as well but... I have seen quite a few people die in my life so I cant figure out why my head has been so all over the place of late, nor how to fix it...
Any tips and such?
I dont do therapy and wont take meds. What natural methods do others use to simmer the brain down...

If it wasn't for weed I wouldn't survive very long. It's the only way I can get an appetite for food. It calms the damaged nerves in my back. It takes out all the stiffness and soreness after a long day of framing. It chills me out. Lately, I've had some anxiety disorder probs coming from chemicals being released in our atmosphere that cause the anxiety so they had to put me on xanax. Those are the only 2 things I know of that I would recommend. I am very sorry about your friend. There was something to this friend that touched your soul or you wouldn't be having such a bad time with it. Some friends take a piece of our soul with them when they die. I'm really sorry. The answers will come to you. Best thing, don't worry about it. You will understand.

firstly well done and I'm so sorry about your mate, that's no wonder you are feeling a bit squizzeled.

I gave up weed about a year or so ago (because I couldn't afford it, not because I was sensible)
I've found that i sometimes get depressed or panicky for no reason, sometimes I have problems remembering names and things. The main risk is that it was cut with something else.

My advice is to keep your blood sugar up, get plenty sleep (but no too much either) exercise, and have natural yogurt which flushes your system.

Just go for a football kick about in the park with friends clears your head and releases natural endorfins.
That's my advice anyhow. good luck!

yoga exercise good food and good sleep dont rule out meds or conselling they may really help you it aint a crime to ask for help im so sorry about the people who have died stay strong it will get better take up a hobby do something that makes u feel good and something that tires u out so u get a good sleep every night good luck

When you feel distressed at awkward times, there are a few tricks that you can use. Breathing: Breathe in for ten seconds and out for ten seconds, and repeat ten times. Temperature: immerse your face in ice water for 15 seconds, or squeeze an ice cube until it melts completely in your fist. Pleasure: find something sensual and concentrate on it for a minute or two, such as smelling a flower, tasting food, looking at a pretty woman, feeling the wind in your hair, or listening to music.

For long-term effectiveness, you need to know what goes on when your emotions are triggered. Write down what happens every time you become upset, and what happened to make you feel that way. Remind yourself that what you are experiencing will pass, and that you are still a good person. Do not let your emotions control you! If they get to be too much, take a time out, then come back to what you were doing. Above all, do not succumb to fear; when you are afraid to do something, do it anyway.

*EDIT* Shaneris is NOT a professional. He cannot diagnose you with any disorder - and 'disorders' are nothing more than fictions that allow 'doctors' to be confident about thier generally ineffective treatments. Furthermore, Shaneris' recommendation of different chemicals to put in your body is insane. Mental conditions are NEVER solved by chemicals.

You may have a form of bipolar disorder, which is just beginning to manifest, now. Because it is a progressive disorder, and only gets worse, you would be well advised to begin effective treatment, ASAP. Taking into account your stated preferences, and after being expertly diagnosed (refuse therapy, and medications!), if positive, I'd first try the alternative treatments, as follows in my standard post. If they prove insufficient, by themselves, I'd then begin taking the Lithium Orotate mineral supplements (no prescription needed), enhanced with folic acid (it's like the folate in broccoli, only more concentrated) as well. Let's hope the first (6 months trial), or second alternative (also 6 months) is enough. My standard post follows: See bipolar disorder, at ezy build, below, in section 10, and take the quiz, if unsure, and if the results are positive, ensure you get an expert diagnosis from a mental health professional, not doctors, who are much better dealing with physical ailments, and don't diagnose complex disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder often enough to develop any real expertise. Bipolar disorder usually involves major mood swings, which occur without apparent cause, and often over many months, or a matter of years, rather than days, as with most people (unless rapid cycling). I'd take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements daily, replacing 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements in the winter months, (or, as probably a better alternative to the 2 cod liver oil supplements: 1 teaspoonful of cod liver oil, with a little butter, to ensure its use; I take mine on sourdough rye bread, or toast, covered with fishpaste, and pepper, to mask the strong taste). Those people who receive adequate exposure to sunlight, daily, won't need the vitamin D from cod liver oil, but many people, particularly those in latitudes far from the equator, find this difficult, to achieve. If you decide to use allopathy, (modern Western medicine) I recommend trying Lithium Carbonate, or Lithium Citrate. (regular tests are necessary, for these) before trying the other mood stabilisers, but if you aren't good at taking medications regularly, drinking adequate water, and keeping up your salt intake, something else may suit you better. Check out "lithium" at http://www.drugs.com/, and http://crazymeds.us/ and always research medications first, (read, and keep the labels/information sheets) so you will be aware of the risks, and on the lookout for side effects. (Personally, if I wasn't bipolar type 1, and didn't experience hallucinations, or serious delusional states, I know I'd first try the orthomolecular, and Omega 3 fish oil supplements, vitamins, minerals; a herbal remedy, such as St. John's wort, and a mostly raw food diet, for several months. I'd aso eat in accordance with my "nutritional type". Enter that term in the searchbar at http://www.mercola.com/ ). If not considerably improved, after several months, consult your primary mental health care provider: you may be one of those who need medications to prevent this progressive illness from getting even worse. If bipolar type 1, an antipsychotic medication may also be needed. Everyone should take the Omega 3 supplements, or preferably "krill oil" for its other health benefits: use the searchbar at http://www.mercola.com/ . Some people refuse medication, using supplements, and a selective, mostly raw food diet (I do not recommended trying this, if bipolar 1, unless you aren't troubled by hallucinations, or delusional states). Maintain the treatments for the depressive phase, in section 2, at: http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Some topics in section 10 include: treating bipolar disorder with supplements, vitamins, minerals, and herbal remedies. As with all medications, there are risks, and the possibility of side effects, which is why I inform people of the alternatives, to see if they can cope sufficiently well , without resorting to medications. Don't use medications and supplements together, without medical advice, except for Omega 3, which is safe.

Meditation, yoga something that will put u back in a state of calm. back in touch with mother earth. Take some time go for a hike in the woods or camp. You said u smoked pot anyone I know that has or does smoke is atlease semi hippy and enjoys mother earth.

I don't think shaneris read the question.

Could it possibly be that the mood swings etc are not actually a recent thing, but have been going on for a while? It's possible that you never noticed them before and instinctively self medicated with the pot...

Take a Vitamin B supplement, magnesium and also some kind of herbal sleeping formula to help you rest properly.

The Vitamin B helps your brain produce the chemicals it needs to keep things 'stable'...it may help with the mood swings. Magnesium should help you relax physically and a sleeping formula will help you recover and allow your body to adjust. Many people don't sleep well without realising it, and without sufficient times spent in certain sleep cycles the body can not repair itself properly and this can lead to mental and emotional issues. Going off pot could definitely mess with your sleep cycle. Pick a formula with Valerian as the base herb or just try Valerian alone if you can't find anything else. Oh...and get a good fish oil formula...it helps with depression and anxiety etc. Just make sure that it says it's been mercury tested...if not DO NOT BUY IT!!

Plenty of exercise and anything you really like doing will help you adjust physically and emotionally to the changes.

Good luck with it all!
