What are all of the possible side effects of Geodon??????!

Question: There are many "possible" side effects. You can find the list on many websites. What are the most likely side effects? What I tell folks that I prescribe Geodon (which I do quite a bit because of its side effect profile which is more favorable than others in the class), is the side effects are varaible and depend on your dose. Most folks paradoxially complain of more side effects at the lower end of the dose range (below 120 mg/day). These common side effects include anxiety, agitation. Most folks tolerate doses above 120 mg/day better, but up in that dose range you are more likely to have some tiredness or possibly nausea. This is one of our more easily tolerated medications, but of course that is not guarantee that you will not have side effects. This drug will not cause significant weight gain or cholesterol increases in my experience. An important issue to realize with geodon is that you need to take it with food. If you dont take it with a meal, you are getting a lower dose than your doctor thinks you are and that might cause the "effective dose" to be lower and for you to be in the area where side effects are more common. That being said, some people have tiredness at the lower doses, and it is a tough medication to predict side effects as the dose range is so large and the with or without a meal deal makes it difficult for me a clinician to predict your side effects.

my son was on it for 2 weeks, and i took him off it,,,,,,,he walked around like a zombie,,it was horrible.

Get access to a Physcian's Desk Reference, it will tell you all the reported and recorded side effects along with the possible side effects that a drug has.

Geodon can be quite sedating but that often goes away. You need to start with a small dosage and increase it only gradually.

I take 40 mg of Geodon.

The main side-effects are fatigue (I take it at night) and constipation. At higher dosages, the constipation can be severe. At the dose I take, that side-effect is not significant.

It's a pretty good med. I like it!
