How can i start sleeping through the night? I'm 13!!?!

Question: I'm not sure what with this...

i haven't sleep through the night since last month. I keep waking up at like, 3am.

I'm pretty certain that it's somehow related to the fact that falling asleep is hard too....i am always a little tense.

please, i can't really take anything...my mom has this and brushes it off when i tell her. idky

and when i wake up, i'm not really awake enough to do anything...its just disrupting my sleep...

how can i stop this? i'm only about even 1/2 conscious i am...

okay, this sounds weird. i went through something like this last year. most likely something is bothering you, and you conscience wont let you sleep. if not, adjust your bed, move things around, or just change things up a little to give you that NEW feeling, which might make you feel better. (it also might be what you eat before you go to bed, which, in that case, can always be changed) :D

You could have insomnia. Nothing serious. Maybe you should start trying natural remedies like sleepy time tea, or exercise before bed so you get tired. Soft music makes it easier to sleep or reading always makes me really tired. Don't nap during the day, if you do. Or try and relax every single muscle on at a time while you're laying in bed. Concentrate on each one. Eventually you will pass out.

You might want to go to the doctor. Most people have OSA (Obstructive sleep apnoea/apnea) and not realise it. The reason you wake up when you have OSA is because you stop breathing and your body isn't taking in as much oxygen as it should and your mind wakes your body up to resume breathing. I've had it, and i just underwent surgery about 3 months ago. I suggest you head to the doctor's as soon as you can. Sleep and oxygen deprevation is dangerous and has alot of side effects.

Do not exercise at least 90 mins before going to bed. It may tire your body, but it keeps your mind alert. No caffeine, sugar or nicotine for that same 90 mins before hitting the hay, it keeps you up...

I kinda agree with the first answer. But at the same time if your tense jus b4 you got to bed take a nice warm or hot bath and jus relax for a bit. I was that way when i was 13, now im 20 an have to take sleep aid cause ive got so much stress, but when i take a nice warm bubble bath an jus relaz in it for a while i go to sleep an stay there till im ready to wake up. Try it, it might help u to

I was just thinking about the fact that my anxiety started when I was about 12-13.

Here are a couple of ideas for you:

Meditation is the only thing that really works for me. You don't have to be a Buddhist; it's just a way to calm your mind. Ten minutes a day of just sitting and paying attention to your breathing will help you so much.

Good luck kiddo. It's hard to change your routine when you're 13 (I used to be on the phone until the last possible second before I went to bed,LOL) but it will be good to practice a few tricks to help you when you really need it.

See insomnia treatments, in section 3, at *ezy-build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2.q, and 2.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping. Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your unconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques. * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris
