Please help! I need advice to help a friend with a problem at school?!

Question: (all boys school) A kid is a huge lakers fan (bob in S.F.) and this other kid (scott) is a huge warriors fan. Scott and bob have been going at it for about a month and all three of our last names start with a C, i am in between them and am also a friend of bob. Bob comes in class sees scott, then the two stand-up and jaw-off. Scott is a kid who has really no friends and is a little pyscho. Today in religion, Bob crossed the line and pissed scott off. Scott is a freak and was staring at Bob with a grotesque look all period, saying "i am going to stab you, or i am going to kill you, **** you ***". I feel sorry for scott casue he has no friends, and everyone (not only Bob) makes fun of him. I was trying to talk to him today, cause he was scaring me, and Bob was scared out of his mind cause scott looked like a murderer.

What should i do? I want to help Scott calm down

*scott was suspended four times in middle school for violent threats.

And he needs to be suspended or expelled for his behavior again....Every person in a school has the right to be safe and to feel safe. Those who are incapable of behaving in a civil manner need to be removed from the situation in order that the many other people there will be safe.

Adults must become involved - now - today.

Scott is in need of treatment by a psychologist or psychiatrist, experienced in teenage behavior.

If he is really unstable, Social Services can arrange for him to go to a special school and living situation.

Be careful how closely associate. While I understand and applaud your desire to befriend this friendless guy, I would caution you. -- This is a guy who can become intense and not be in control of his words or behavior.....in a flash he could turn on you the next time.

Inform your school's Dean of Students, principal, or guidance counselor. This is too much for you to handle on your own even with the best intentions. If something were to happen you would regret your decision to tackle this yourself. It sounds as if Scott needs more than just one person in his corner. Someone with training in psychological issues and adolescent behavioral therapy needs to get involved. Trying to be a good person morally is an admirable trait but you have to step back from being the hero sometimes and let others take control.
