Do you ever wonder if you are insane?!

Question: I've heard that insane people think they are completely normal. Is that true? I mean, I think I'm pretty normal, but what if my entire life is a figment of my imagination and people on the outside are looking at me shaking their heads b/c they think I'm crazy. Do you ever think about that? I've only met one other person who has ever thought this...just curious if it's ever crossed anyone else's mind.

I spent a great part of my teenage years stressing about such things. The worse was when I got really obsessed with the idea that me and my whole life was a figment of someone else's imagination. Seriously, I think a lot of people have thoughts like this from time to time. Try not to let it bother you. There is not really any such thing as normal but I am sure you are as close to it as you need to be. Worrying about what other people think of you or whether or not you exist is the sort of thing that will lead to you getting stressed if you do it too often. For now, just accept such thoughts as a sign of intelligence and curiosity. That's what I do anyways and it stops them troubling me. Well, that and I use them as inspiration for my writing.

I actually do about that sometimes, I think about a lot of things.

I don't think people get what she means.... She means that do you ever think that you're not really in reality, like the job or whatever you have is only a figment of you imagination, and really everyone should ponder this, because you'll never know if it's true there's absolutly no way to tell, nothing in your life could be real

Well, insanity is not a mental health term anyway...it is strictly a legal term used in determining one's ability to properly align oneself with reality. And people who are crazy are not crazy in their own heads because they are used to being with themselves. So, just like you...they think they are normal. It makes sense really. I am sure you have no clue what it is like to be a boy...so you don't think about peeing standing up (other than curiosity)...same with them...they don't know what crazy is...so they don't think about being crazy!

But... if you were truly crazy or insane, you probably wouldn't be where you are in your life right now. Like, let's say I'm actually crazy and insane... I highly doubt I'd be in the position I am where I work, nor would I have a normal marriage w/kids... I would be too crazy or insane to hold down a job, and probably to nuts to keep a marriage together. Now...if I was a little crazy or insane... then perhaps I could fool everyone... LOL... (just kidding)....

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Insanity is not who you are but the symptoms that appear. You don't sound "insane" to me just analyzing and curious about "deep" stuff. That's okay. We learn more by asking questions.
P.S. Insane people often DO know they have a problem. Those who don't, function the best they can with what they have.

yea kinda not all the time though

If I had a dollar for every time I thought people were saying or doing things behind my back I'd be a millionaire. When ever I feel that way, (and it may be true) I just continue about my bussiness. I can talk myself into being very parinoid, but I don't allow that to happen.

That's crazy that you're thinking about that because I ALWAYS do. I'm always thinking if I'm thinking things because I genuinely believe in them or because I want to believe them which causes me to think I do. I also think about being crazy. I mean, what if your whole life you think that you're totally normal but on the outside everybody thinks that you're insane. After all, many people with serious mental disorders think that they're normal so I always wonder if I think I'n normal but if I really have a serious problem.
