If shock is the bodies natural physiological response to physical trauma why do !
Question:
If shock is the bodies natural physiological response to physical trauma why do we treat for shock?
Answers:
When you go into shock, your body is essentially shunting all the blood in the body and directing it to your vital organs in the center because they are the most important for survival. Thats why when someone is in shock, their hands and extremities are cold to touch. In a medical emergency, you have to act fast and treat shock because it may cause a drastic drop in blood pressures and can be fatal. Treatments for shock would be elevation of the feet to direct blood flow to the organs, high flow oxygen, and I.V. saline to compensate for fluid loss if there is hemmorhage, etc... There are many different types of shock and all can be fatal if not treated in a timely manner...
