i have a question about weed?!

Question: I have a question about weed?
how come when u say weed (like a dandilion) pluralizedd it is weeds
but when u say weed (drug) pluralized it is weed

Answers:

'weed' (drug) is slang.

For the same reason that water or milk isn't pluralized with an 's'... you're comparing a descriptor to a name. In other words, a weed (dandelion) is one weed, but multiple weeds (eg. a dandelion and a thistle) would be pluralized with an 's', but "weed" is the name of the drug (like milk is the name of the dairy drink).
That's the best way I can think to explain it and you might get a better answer in the "words and wordplay" section instead of Alternative Medicine. ;-) Good luck and I hope I helped!

its pluralized because when you say that there are weeds like ones you find in gardens, there arn't just dandilions, there are others too. and when people say weed as in the drug they are talking about one plant. there can be various types of weeds in a garden or a yard but there is only one weed when its the drug.
