after waking up, how to fall back asleep ,and not think or mull things over

If you are looking for something to make your mind feel at ease, I keep a notebook and pen by my bed and I can write down some things that are worrying me or making me feel stressed. That way you gain some control over these things and get them out of your head.
Also, I tried taking Valerian, an herb that helps some people relax, and it seems to help me get to sleep a little faster.
