Answers:

Everybody has a hard time starting out, this is difficult I agree. But as you practise it,it will be as easy as switching on your computer and asking this question.

If you meditate everyday you are most likely to find your inner peace and joy. This is what meditation is for,it is there to help your mind get rid of clutter and let you achieve inner and outter peace and calmness. Also if you are not an atheist and trully believe in God you can practise such meditation as focusing on God's Word.Well, that means focusing on Him and all that He teaches us and it is a way of "figuring" your faith out.It is as good as prayer in religion.

If you put it into your daily routine and have a particular time of the day everyday to meditate and let your family members and friends know that you shouldn't be disturbed at that time is really nice.Switch on some nice music, open your window wide and let the fresh air fill your body with each inhale. You can put a few candles as well.Dress comfortably and sit in a good and easy position for you.Switch off things like the computer and put your cell phone on silent, this is something that should be done in peace and quiet (unless you want some music, but you have to turn it down a bit for the full effect)

Make sure your mind calms down and relaxes a bit, don't force yourself to meditate and after 2 minutes say that it doesn't work.Give your mind time for that.I always thought that meditation is like taking a 10 minute vacation everyday that I really enjoyed! You can start with deep inhales and exhales, count till 4 for the inhale and the exhale. If you can't do that minimize it to what is comfortable and easy for you to start with, then go up as you improve to meditate.(see the links I put in the source part for some other types of meditation).Don't force yourself to do a type of meditation, find one that you like and enjoy doing.Meditation is supposed to be relaxation not torture, lol. Also don't force thoughts out of your mind, let them get in and you help them gently to flow out like clouds.

I don't know why but everytime I meditate,I always do it for exactly 10 minutes.Always!!I never put a timer or an alarm I just let my body relax for as long as it feels comfortable and everytime it is exactly ten minutes.I suggest you do that too, instead of putting a timer or an alarm (which can ring when real meditation just started which isn't good because it distracts you and you can't go back to the "real" meditation that you achieved) just let your body relax and meditate until you feel it is enough.Don't limit yourself,be free!At first it might be just 5 minutes,so what, you are just a beginner (I suppose).Believe me,I went to yoga for 6 months and my teacher taught me a lot about it (she likes meditation and breathing so she paid a lot of attention to it while class).

Trust me,when you really get to know what meditation is you will love it and it is nice to experiment with it too!Good luck to your trip to that 10 minute vacation ;)
