If i were you i would not use mineral oil for anything. Mineral oil is a by-product of petroleum.
It is well-known that mineral oil robs the body of fat soluble vitamins....A, D, E & K** This might not be a problem if used as a one off but why use something like mineral oil when you can use olive oil B.P. from a pharmacy instead. Don't ever use mineral oil as a laxative.....see the Merck Manual entry......posted verbatim below. The Merck Manual is a well-known reputable medical reference manual ...accessed by many GP doctors in actual fact.
Most if not all pharmacies sell the B.P. grade olive oil for medicinal use.
Here are some instructions on how to use olive oil for the ears:

If the wax does not come out of its own accord after olive oil treatment ...i.e. towards the ear surface and gentle wiping with a tissue can remove that (give it some time) see your doctor or nurse as it should be easier for them to remove it after olive oil treatment. Don't use cotton buds/q-tips as you could push the wax deeper. At any time, if you get any ear ache see your doctor asap.
Best wishes.
**Merck Manual....in their online medical library for patients and caregivers they write this: "Because fats in foods help the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins, a low-fat diet may result in a deficiency. Some disorders interfere with absorption of fats and thus of fat-soluble vitamins. Examples are chronic diarrhea, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, pancreatitis, and blockage of the bile ducts. Some drugs, such as mineral oil, have the same effect. Fat-soluble vitamins dissolve in mineral oil, which the body does not absorb. So when people take mineral oil, it carries these vitamins unabsorbed out of the body." (verbatim)
