As was already stated, stretching and exercise are good. You can use low strength OTC pain relievers to help with the discomfort and first until the benefits of exercise start to kick in. You might want to consult a physical therapist about the best way to exercise for your back. You should avoid chiropractors and homeopaths at all costs. Be extremely cautious about Osteopaths.
Meditation helps, immediately but only temporarily.
Other short term help may be Feldenkrais, taiji, ...
But you need to find a good teacher. (for YOU, in THIS MOMENT);
Through long term meditation, you get UNDERSTANDING.
With UNDERSTANDING, you get the CHOICE.
Through the right CHOICE (thinking, emotions, physical HABITS or being alert so nothing is really a HABIT), you can get rid of the back pain.
One challenge may pop up : if your goal is 'getting rid of backpain', you may not succeed. But this wisdom you will understand through the meditation.
No thanks.

Your best bet would be to get an assessment done by an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. It's gentler and more involved than Chiropractic, which would be another choice. Homeopathic remedies like Rhus. Tox, Ruta and Arnica work well, but it's best to use these after you've made sure that nothing's physically misaligned.
Well manual therapy is pretty good. I've got a list of satisfied patients as long as my arm. Its drug free too.
