It is not so much that it is cannabis but that it is smoke.
It does irritate the throat.
But it would depend on how often you smoked.

Considering that every single freaking musician in the sixties and tons of them since have been marijuana users, I'm going to say no, it cannot ruin your singing voice. In fact, many people believe that it makes the voice better, but I wouldn't suggest going out and becoming an addict all of a sudden now.

any kind of smoking can alter your voice. but not necessarily ruin it. many singers get their sexy/husky voices from smoking cigarettes.

however, there are ways of using marijuana without smoking it. if you like it and dont want to stop, but want to stop smoking you could vaporise it (using a vaporiser...) or eat it. although eating it doesnt give the same effects. still nice, but they take hours to kick in.

anyway, smoking weed every now and then - if you dont smoke tobacco - will not affect your voice. its not like you're smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. even if you smoked weed twice a week, you only smoke one of two joints or bowls, so it really wont be too bad for your voice.

All smoke damages a singing voice, because it is not natural, it harms your lungs, and can affect your trachea and larynx, and thus your vocal chords as well. This can make singing painful, challenging. This is why some women who smoke have very deep nearly tenor like voices, or rough gruff voices.

My Choir Teacher, and general knowledge.

No. I'm in a chamber choir at my school, and have smoked around 6 times. I also know more people in the choir who have smoked for longer.

Smoke of any kind can be damaging to vocal cords and thus a singing voice.

use a vaporizer if your worried,no smoke all vapor....better for your lungs as well!

probably after prolonged usuage
