Coca Cola is good for you?!

Question: Coca Cola is good for you?
It got antioxidants. Because it got cocoa in it. Right?

So how can it be so bad for you?

I drank it and it got rid of my cold.

Was it use as a medicine?

Im sorry but there is nothing good (healthy) about Coke. Other poster said it used to contain cocaine which is correct and it was sold in pharmacies as a home remedy. Just think about if you weren't feeling well and you would take a swig of coke with "coke" in it...you would definitely feel better!

Today, however it is all sugar and flavors with phosphates. Totally bad for you and has absolutely no health benefits whatsoever. If you are going into insulin shock because of an overdose of diabetes medication then a swig of the sugary stuff will be helpful to raise your blood sugar. Other than that, it is actually bad for you and can lead to tooth decay, de-mineralization of bone, diabetes, stomach problems, maybe kidney stones if consumed in large quantities.

Coca Cola does not contain cocoa. Once upon a time, at the time it was originally formulated- it contained coca leaves, which are a mild stimulant still enjoyed by natives in South America. It also contains caffeine, which is why it peps you up and makes some people hyper. But primarily it's just caffeinated sugar water, full of empty calories and has no real nutritional value at all. It would not have any effect on a cold beyond psychological. Flat soda will help settle an upset stomach sometimes, and can be calming if you have been sick to your stomach, which is about the end of it's potential medicinal use. Cocoa is dry chocolate powder, minus the cocoa butter- and has never been part of Coca-Cola at all either.

NO, you're mistaken. There is no cocoa or chocolate in it. Unless you get a Chocolate Coke.
The name "Coca" does not refer to cocoa.

However, coke or cola drinks can sometimes be good for you. The caffeine in them can be a useful stimulant. I prefer pepsi in morning, because I can't stand coffee, so it helps to wake me up.
And I think that's waht happened with your cold, the caffeine probably helped to energize you a little to help get over it. But soda pop doesn't really help with a cold.
In fact, drinking lots of coke or colas---anything with lots of caffeine--can be harmful, because the caffeine also helps the body to pee more, and it flushes out some vitamins like calcium much easier than normal.
So you've got to make sure you get enough vitamins if you're drinking lots of coke or colas.

When colas were first invented--Pepsi and Coke--back in 1800's, they were indeed advertised as medicinal, to help you feel better, to pep you up. but back then, LOTS of stuff were said to do that, even if they had no medicinal ability at all.

Coca Cola got its name from cocaine, not cocoa. The original formula actually contained cocaine until it was banned in the 1800s. It was touted as having medical benefits originally.

Coca Cola contains sugar, and it's known to cause changes in blood sugar levels which can lead to diabetes. Regular consumption may not be that good for you.

it is not bad, it is a refreshment. the oldest soda since the 1900's and very classic. was not used as a medicine

The Coke I'm drinking must be different than yours. Mine has never had cocoa.
Never had antoxidants either.

However, I do enjoy it.

It's fantastic for you, drink as much as you like. It has all the nutrients your body needs.
