Can I cut deworm pills in peices?!
Question: Can I cut deworm pills in peices!?
I need to get deworm pills to swallow and I was wondering if I can cut it into smaller peices because it is too big!. Is there a certain amount that you can cut it like 5 tiny pieces because I always gag and spit it out whenever I eat pills that are about the size of Advils!. I have never been able to swallow pills and usually got the liquid-gels when I was sick!. Please help!. Best Answer gets 10 points!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the pill!. If it's a capsule or softgel, I would say no!.
Considering you said that you gag on it, I'm willing to bet it's a large tablet, though!. Look on the ingredients listing for the word "enteric" or that it has "layers" somewhere on the package!. If you don't see it listed in there, then you can cut it up!.
Basically, an enteric coating makes it so that a tablet isn't digested until it gets into your intestines!. If the product says it has different layers, then that means the product is designed for a delayed digestion as well (in a different way, though)!. If you cut either of those types of pills open, it would defeat the purpose of the formulation!.
