Where can you find out how to practice natural family planning?!

Question: First of all, if I can address "Halema"'s comment (because I simply cannot stand ignorance): it is NOT Catholic teaching that couples are unable to do anything, positive or negative, in regards to family planning. Catholics are free to use knowledge from NFP to help plan their families. Feel free to read the Catholic Catechism to learn more. There is a free, searchable version at the site: www.usccb.org.

Now to the question at hand:

I am an NFP teacher with the Couple to Couple League: www.ccli.org. If you want to practice NFP with a great level of effectiveness, I strongly suggest that you take a class from a certified teacher. CCL offers classes by certified teachers as well as a homestudy course if you don't have any teachers in your area. There are other very good methods of NFP that offer classes as well. You can google them and find out information about classes in your area: Billings Ovulation Method, Creighton Method, Marquette Method, Northwest Family Services.

There are also some good books available to learn NFP. One popular book is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. There is also a free NFP manual offered on the site www.nfpandmore.org. Some people do well learning from web sites like www.fertilityfriend.com. But I do strongly urge you to take a class, that way you can get your questions answered and you can get personal help along the way. Good luck!

The family planning clinic - the nurse will explain the methods to you. There are about three natural family planning methods and you choose which one you'd like to follow.

Well, being Catholic will help you plan your family naturally. Catholics feel that you should just let things happen "naturally", without any intervention, positive or negative.

If you want more control over your reproductive life, then get a calendar and a Basel thermometer. Start charting when menses begins and ends for at least three months. Then start taking Basel temperatures before rising for the day. Take plenty of a good multi-vitamin - both of you. Get lots of sleep because the body shuts down extra functions not necessary to daily life if life is too stressful (this is an effort to conserve energy by the body to save it for the stress). Exercise and eat very healthy.

And then have fun.....

Or you could plan a very expensive, adults-only vacation a few months down the road....(murphy's law)
