The flu goes away by itself. There's no treatment a doctor can give you anyway so dont bother.
The best you can do is drink plenty of water, take paracetamol as advised on the pack and get plenty of rest.
I agree with Zini but I'd go one step further to ask....Are you living with someone or are you alone? If you are alone or by yourself during the 3-5 days the misery lasts you need to let someone know you're ill. Have them call you periodically to see how you are going. If you have a high fever for several days you can become dehydrated even drinking fluids. At that point you'll need for someone to take you to the ER or call 911 for you. Someone needs to know..... Don't drink anything with caffeine in it since caffeine is a diuretic... If you have some cottage cheese, chicken soup, yogurt or some other "mild" protein in the house that's easy to "get to" and eat try to get small amounts of that down every few hours...
