The best way to answer your question is to phone your pharmacist. After all that is what they go to school for. They won't laugh. There are alot of foods that can interact with your medications.

It can make valium less potent. Something in the grapefruit juice does interfere with the proper absorption of valium (as well as some other meds.) It is best to take valium one hour before, or two hours after drinking grapefruit juice. There are studies being done to see if grapefruit has the same effect as grapefruit juice, but for now it's just the juice that needs special considerations.

I believe it increases the side effects, not decreases them. check with your pharmacist. There should be a label on the medicine bottle that says grapefruit juice intensifies the effects of valium.
