Birth control options for someone with no insurance?!

Question:

Birth control options for someone with no insurance?

My sister is 24 and doesnt have any insurance, or really money for that matter. She got injured at work a few years ago but they didnt pay for it, and she cant work until after surgery, which wont be until october at the soonest. In september she will be visiting her boyfriend in Hong Kong but before then she wants to get on birth control just in case, what are some options for her? I'm going to help her where I can but will be a little tight on money for another month or so. I want her to get started ASAP incase she has problems and needs to switch as I did.
Could she go to planned parenthood even though she is an adult? If not, what other options are there? Does planned parenthood cost anything? Any info would be great.

Thanks for all the answers so far.
We both know abstinence is best, but she'd rather safe then sorry. This guy is all but her fiance...its like, they know they are getting married but he has another year or so in school first, so its not like she's sleeping around. She also would like to control her irratical periods.
She is not on unemplyment or disability. They tried to say it was preexisting and wouldnt give her a penny, and it just got so bad she had to quit. She has absolutley no money and is living with mom. The closest to an income is the backpack in child support our dad occasionally chooses to send, so basically, any money she has for this is mine, and i'm already putting what I can for her surgery so this whole sliding scale thing sounds great.

Answers:

She can ABSOLUTELY go to planned parenthood!! It's for women of all ages who prefer to visit a clinic as opposed to a regular OB/GYN. Reasons for using them range from privacy to cost.

Planned parenthoods will generally work on a sliding scale based on income. Meaning, the less you make, the less you pay and the more you make, the more you pay. When I was in college and had little to no income, I paid $40 for the initial exam and $5 per birth control pill pack. In comparison, a pelvic exam at a normal OB/GYN, including lab work, is probably $300-400 (without insurance) and generic BC pills can run $30-50.
