Question:

My periods are painful and prolonged, about 5-7 days, they used to be about 3 days, painless, anything wrong?

Answers:

No, I don't think so but it should be something you discuss with your GYN if this is not normal for you. Oftentimes when periods change from no pain to pain, it could mean endometriosis. This is very painful and the flow can last a lot longer. I had a hysterectomy because of it. Evidince suggest that fragaments of the endometrium tissue have glands or galndlike tissue that is actually pieces of uterine lining, cause hemorrhage or excessive bleeding. this tissue is found on the wall or the surface of the uterus, the tubes, or lining of the pelvis. Intestinal obstruction is common. Mine was in the intestine and part of the it had to be removed. You are lucky, I bled for 15 days a least. Of course, this may not be the case for you depending on your age. Endometriosis doesn't usually occur in women under the age of 37. The most characteristic is pain and heavy bleeding. Treatment of the milder form is medication with an analgesics. Fibroid tumors are often present, but they are always benign. Just to be sure, contact your MD, it can't hurt to be sure. Good luck!
