Discharge question ..?!
Question: Discharge question ..?
Answers:
Firstly - NEVER douche.
Your vagina is self-cleaning – discharge cleans-out bacteria and dirt, your vagina also naturally has an acidic pH to help kill off harmful bacteria while still allowing healthy bacteria to thrive. Douching effects the vaginal pH allowing harmful bacteria to grow, it strips away discharge that as well as cleaning your vagina also acts to protect vaginal walls, and more importantly douching forces harmful bacteria up into your uterus where it can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease - more so with a IUD.
Secondly - Pap's have nothing to do with infections.
Pap smears are to test for abnormal cervical cells that may lead to cervical cancer, they don't test for infections or STD's. If your vagina smells bad and if you have unusual discharge then it may be an infection, or STD if you're sexually active, as such you need to go get tests and treatment.
Odour and certainly dark green discharge is a sign there is something wrong - SEE A DOCTOR! - with a IUD you're at risk of complications if you have untreated infections or STD's so it is vitally important that when you have signs of an infection you go get this dealt with.
