when taking the pill...?!

Question: When taking the pill...?
my mum has offered to take me to the doctor but i've read a lot about the pill and i have some questions.
one of the side effects is weight gain.. exactly how much? will it be noticeable?
i also heard it makes your boobs grow.. is this true?
and i was wondering if taking it affects body hair at all.. like facial hair.. will it go away/or come?

With regard to weight gain, some women experience quite a bit while others have none at all. Every woman's body is different, and each birth control pill is different. Usually, more weight gain is experienced in women that take birth control pills [BCP] with higher doses of hormones, but this does not apply to everyone. Just consult your doctor about what pill will be best for you.
The case is the same for breast enhancement. Some womens' breasts don't grow at all while others' will grow a full cup size. This all depends on your own body and the pill that you take, so again consult your doctor.
Body hair, however, has nothing to do with birth control pills because its growth is not controlled by the same hormones as the ones that control your menstrual cycle and female development.

As for the weight gain, it certainly does not happen to everybody. But it could be anywhere from 5-25 pounds. But like I said, it definitely does not happen to everyone. Just eat right, and exercise regularly, and you should be fine.

Yes, it usually does make your boobs grow a little bit. Once again, though, it doesn't happen for everybody.

And for facial hair...I'm not sure. I haven't noticed any change in mine. I guess that could also depend on the person, too. But I definitely wouldn't worry about that one too much. It's usually other hormones, like testosterone, which...as far as I know of, anyways, are NOT in birth control...that causes that.

As far as weight gain is concerned: It does not always happen. Usually only to women who are already predisposed to gaining weight. The doctor once told me that the average to the women that it does happen to is about 5-10lbs. But the percentage is actually quite low. As far as making your breasts larger: It is possible because it is hormonal, however, again it's not common. It's not anything that I have experienced from it. A lot of women do report that if they have mild acne it will clear up a bit. That did happen to me. And I don't think that it will affect your hair at all. Good luck and discuss these concerns with your doctor before you go on the pill. He or she will decide what's best for you. :) Good luck.
