why do some people chose to become celibate for a period of time?!

Question: Why do some people chose to become celibate for a period of time?
Answers:

I always kind of wondered that too. Like if they weren't being celibate until marriage. I always kind of assumed that people who were fine with sex outside of marriage and liked having it would always just keep at it unless maybe they weren't with the right person, or just in between relationships, stuff like that. But there's actually a lot of reasons why people choose it. Here's a link to a page that has some videos of women talking about it and explaining why they're doing it currently.

I found it when I was looking at birth control options on bedsider, great website. Although I don't think celibacy is a form of birth control. I think life choices and pregnancy protection are lumped together in a somewhat ridiculous manner.. But there's some testimonies that might answer your question better.

I guess I chose it for a while, but not really. I was in a long distance relationship for a long time and at one point we went over a year without seeing each other, completely sexless that whole time. I was just being faithful, if I would have gotten to see him at all that whole time I definitely would have thrown celibacy out the window. So I don't know if that really counts or not. I'm pretty glad I'm not in that relationship anymore and that's one of the reasons, but it's certainly not the reason we broke up.

some people has a sex addiction and may wish to become celibate for a while to see if they can be set on the right track.

some people view their past sexual history (like them having sex with others) as being covering for or trying to treat deeper, emotional problems, so they may wish to become celibate for a while to get their emotions in order before they enter another sexual relationship.

some people were simply scarred by a past sexual experience (ie sexual abuse as a child, by a gf/bf, by a spouse, by cheating, etc) that they no longer want to have sex.

To give the body a break and also to focus on some task at hand.
