Doctors recommend that a woman waits at lest 1 year to get pregnant after the birth of a child so their bodies have time to heal properly.

Doctors can't just "put you" on birth control, you have to consent. Unfortunately, many doctors don't give proper information and make it sound like patients HAVE to do what they say. The reason they suggest birth control is to avoid another pregnancy from happening right away.

Hi - it is primarily to prevent another pregnancy, if truth be told!

Many women believe that if they breast-feed or if their periods have not re-established following childbirth, that they will not fall pregnant again; many do, and many of those pregnancies are not planned or particularly wanted at that stage.

Good luck.

It can be used to regulate your period; however, it is VERY easy to get pregnant again after you give birth (well after the 6 week check up that is). For those of us who hold off the six weeks, that would be an ideal time to conceive again.. so I"im assuming that is why they push for it.

it's to help your body go back to somewhat normal- i think.

It might be. Your period won't return to normal for quite some time after giving birth, so you won't have it to judge where you are in your cycle.

dont go on bc if you plan to breastfeed
