Essure is a coil that is placed inside the fallopian tubes!. I know a lot of people who have had it done and most were completely happy with it!. It does require a followup HSG (hysterosalpingogram) 3 months after the procedure to verify that the tube is completely blocked!. It is much less painful than having a tubal ligation and it is done intravaginally, NO incision in the belly!. It is meant to be a permanent sterilization!. One of my patients had hers put in at 7am and went to her husband's college graduation that night!. She had no cramps or anything!. But she was tough!.!.!.had twins that year!.
