Periods? What was this?!

Question: Periods!? What was this!?
On the 28th September, I had a few small spots of blood from down there when i wiped, and then the day after i had like a browny pinky kind of mark!. Sorry if this is a bit gross! Anyway, yeah i haven't started my periods yet, so what was this!? oh and yesterday I had white stringy discharge, quite a lot of it!.

This sounds gross, but y'know!.

I'm 14!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Assuming that you have not scratched or hurt yourself whilst wiping and are not sexually active!. This most sounds like the beginning of your periods (usually called a show)!. It's quite normal however, to have a show like this and not start your periods for quite a while after (in some cases a few months or even a year or so), it doesn't necessarily mean that you have started your periods now!.

The best thing to do is get prepared, find some reliable resources such as http://www!.always-info!.co!.uk/index!.html that have questions and information for first starters!. This will help you to prepare not only practically but also emotionally!.

A good thing to do is ask someone who you feel comfortable with (a good person would be a female who has started their periods) to take you to the shop to buy sanitary towels in case you do actually have a 'propper' period!. Buy a small variety of sizes and thicknesses so you can get used to the ones that you prefer!. In most cases cheaper brand of pads are pretty much as good as the more popular brands!. It's not recommended in your first few years of periods that you use tampons, these are something that are more suitable entering your late teens and adult years (you do not neccesarily need to switch when you are older, it's perfectly fine for adults to still wear pads)!.

Carry a pad around with you in your bag, when you go out or at school just incase you 'come on' whilst you are out!. Don't be embarrased about it as it shows that you are being mature and thinking ahead, I can guarentee you that most of the other girls at school will have them too!.

Regarding your white, stringy discharge, this is perfectly normal too (even if there is quite a bit)!. It's your body's way of keeping clean and getting rid of bad bacteria!. Wash regularly and keep clean to help your area look after itself!.
If your discharge become dicoloured in any way or begins to have as trong smell, this could be a sign of infection such as thrush!. If so, see your GP and they will be able to treat it for you!.

If you havn't already done so, tell your mum or a close relative so that they can help you get prepared!.

Good luck and hope this info helps, if you have any other questions just update your question, and I will aim to answer them x

I'd just like to add, if you do start your periods, don't expect them to be regular, it can take a few years for them to settle the average is 3-7days but some last longer than this!. Light or heavy, long or short, your period is unique to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Every things fine ,,

Your just starting your periods !.

You should start to wear a pad now and you'll notice that you ll bleed for a few days but because this is you getting your periods you could have them from 3 - 7 days !. : )
