Question: Can anyone tell me where to go for some answers!?
We just found out my wife has breast cancer!. Her surgeon said she will probably be undergoing radiation therapy following surgery!. Has anyone here had the radiation therapy and what effects will she likely expect from it!. What can I do to help!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You guys are in my prayers first of all!. She can expect nausea, vomiting, irritated oral mucosa or mouth, decreased appetite, hair loss and pain to name a few!. I don't want to scare you but its all these signs and symptoms (s/s) are possible with XRT (Radiation)!. There also is a chance that she may not experience those s/s but they are common with xrt!. Go to mayoclinic!.com for good sound information!. The internet has great info but be careful that is not just hype!. Also, your physician is a great resource as well!. There are so many advances in cancer research today, especially breast cancer so there is lots of information available!. You may also want to check the Susan G!. Komen foundation that is another excellent breast ca resource!.
You can just be her support, her rock and her ear when she needs to talk!. Educate yourself on this topic so you can ask the questions she may not think of!.

Oh for cryin out loud!! I am so sorry to hear about you and your wife!.!.!.!.But I have good news!.!.!.!.!.My mother went through it and she did wonderfully and this was 15 years ago!.!.!.!.I'm not saying its rosie but I am saying that if your wife has a positive attitude she will get through it much better than if she is depressed!.
They have medications now that cut down on the nausea and the fatigue, and the prognosis for breast cancer patients is much better than it was even 15 years ago with my mom!.!.!.!.
I have faith that you two will do fine as long as you have a fighter attitude!.!.!.!.I say "you two" because she will need you sometimes to help her stay strong!.!.!.!.It is scary to think about breast cancer, but really it isn't the end of everything like it used to be!.

my mother did it when i was little!. i feel your pain!. it's going to be difficult!. she will be tired a lot, and will be in a lot of pain most of the time!. the radiation takes a LOT out of you!. just be there for her!. that's all i could do at the time!. just love her, and good luck to the both of you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
