First of all make sure you let your stubble grow out to at least 1/4 inch in length so the wax has something to grab onto.

Next, since it's your first time... I'd suggest going in for a basic bikini wax, not a Brazillian just to see how well you like the results. Also to see how comfy you are with the waxing process.

Don't worry about pain or embarrassment either. You can request paper underwear. And also request the numbing solution to be applied to your skin beforehand too. As for a full Brazillian... Be prepared to be placed in some VERY awkward positions, also you Will be nude below the waist. This is why I suggest not getting it the first time. You have to be very comfy to get this done. You'll no doubt be nervous enough the first time without having to deal with this.

If you get a very experienced person doing your waxing, They "rip" very fast and hold your skin very taut so any discomfort is minimal.

Waxing itself becomes much less of a problem over time... The roots get weak and less hair grows back too.

As for home waxing. If nothing else... At least make an appointment to see a pro maybe not for the waxing itself... But for a quick lesson and tips on how to do it properly at home. I can tell you the number one mistake in home waxing is not spreading the wax properly and not pulling the muslin off correctly.

Spread the wax in the direction the hair grows.
Pull the muslin off-
A) In the opposite direction the hair grows and...
B) Pull by using a "dragging back" motion not a "pulling up" motion. If you pull up you may rip off a bit of skin and leave hairs behind as well.
C) Hold the skin as taut as possible

Also, if your home kit has it- do not skip putting on the pre-wax prep oil. Lots of novice home waxers often skip this. This causes the wax to adhere to the skin and you sometimes end up ripping off a bit of skin. The same goes for the pre-wax powder some kits have, instead of the oil. One other tip about home waxing. Don't forget to spread paper or an old sheet or towel on the floor to catch any accidental drips. This is something no home wax kit will tell you about.

As for the percieved pain... I've actually never experienced the so called "Mind bending pain" that everybody says they do. I've been getting completely waxed bare for years. The first couple times I was surprised. The only real pain happened when they did the "very top" not where you would expect/fear. and the numbing solution and aspirin I took an hour before my appointment helped to minimize that to more of a burning sensation than real pain.

sorry no tips cuz there isnt anything you can do to stop the pain, plus it will be all red and puffy for a bit too!
OUCH!

My wife does Brazilian and has for years. She said the first few times hurt but it decreased over 5-6 times and now not at all painful.

If that is what you want, be prepared for pain the first 5-10 times and from then on, nothing. So if you want that look, that is what you have to expect.

its really hard to do the underside, but for the front, use smaller strips.
when you pull the strip off, pull it from the bottom up, and hold your skin taught at the bottom of the strip as you pull.
