Why is my period so light this time?!

Question: I am 16 years old, and I've had my period for about two years. Usually on the first day it's really heavy... but today it's light... light brown with some red. Why? I'm a virgin so I can't be pregnant...

The thing about periods is that they are never set in stone. You could have a period one month that is so heavy you feel like you will never stop bleeding, and then the next month you barely bleed at all (like you are describing). Many women do have irregular flows during their periods, as in they don't have just a set 'strength' like medium or heavy. There are a lot of things in your body that effect this like hormones, a changed diet, new medication, etc.

Don't panic, or think the worst. This is more natural than many people think. A light, or even a missed period every once in a while is nothing to worry about. Since you are a virgin you don't have to worry about pregnancy, which is a good thing! A woman can skip periods, or have really light ones and be just fine.

What you need to keep in mind look for are how many times a skipped or very light period happens. If it is every once in a blue moon than don't fret. But if this happens continuously talk to your doctor, since something could be off balance in your body. Just this one time, though shouldn't be anything to worry about.

That was a really good question though. Just think of it this way, if it is light, enjoy it while you can! ^_^
Good luck!!

For the first 2 years it can be irregular, but if it keeps up, maybe talk to a female doctor. =]
