It's not to young, most girls start around the same age their mom did. It can be a scary, confusing and embarrassing time when you're just starting out. Say what ever you'd like to your mom, she's a woman who gets her period every month just like the rest of us. She can answer any questions or concerns you have about it without being embarrassed. I'm sure she'd love to talk to you. Every mother expects this day will come what ever your age may be. Good luck!
no worries.. my cousin had her period at the same age 10. it varies from different girls.. some can get at 8 or wait till their 18..

Just tell her. You are not too young. Unfortunately periods are coming sooner and sooner. The average age for puberty is now 10 for Caucasians and 9 for African Americans.
