Self vaginal exams...?!


Question: is it normal to start doing that to yourself and if it is what do you do? should you do it? do you need any equipment? can you hurt yourself and never be able to have kids? should you go to the gynecoligist instead? or are you suppost to do it and go to the gynecoligist if you see anything irregular? i am so confused pleasee help!

Actually, self vaginal exams are a good idea! Obviously you can't really get in there and get a good look the way that the gynocologist does, but it's an excellant idea to inspect the external area. You can use a small hand mirror. Inspect the outside for any lesions or moles that look suspicios. When you are finished with that, you should gently spread your labia and look on the insides of them to make sure there are no lesions of any sort. That's as far as you can go. Do not make any attempts to see all the way up inside becaue you could end up seriously hurting yourself. You still need to go to the doc at the very least yearly so that he or she can examine you internally, as well as externally. If you see anything strange during one of your exams, call your doc and make an apopointment, even if it's only been a few months since your last exam. Remember DO NOT examine your self internally... only examine the outer, easily accessible areas!

WHAT!?! you cant do that yourself!! GO TO THE DOCTOR

Um, since you probably don't know what to look for, it makes much more sense to go to the gynecologist.
