I just started taking metformin?!

Question: And I ran out of pills and somehow put off getting them and it's been about 5 days since I've taken them. I take 500 mg a day for PCOS and insulin rejection. I did get my pills today, just wondering if anybody can give me some information on their experience with Metformin, and is there any problems with going a couple days without it? Also, I see that you are not to consume any alcohol with Metformin, what happens with that. Any information in general is good. Thanks!

It really depends on the person. I too take Metformin for PCOS and insulin resistance, and honestly for me, I went a few days without taking it, and the result was I felt dizzy, got a little headache or felt a little nauseated. Also, when it comes to consuming drinks with alcohol in it, and taking Metformin, what my doctor told me, when I asked this same question is to not drink alcohol often. If you are the type to have a drink once in a while, it would be fine, but if you are the type to drink a lot, then there would be a problem. The only suggestion I would give to you on that is, if I know I am going to have a drink that day, I will skip a dose, but I am in no way saying it is ok for you to do the same. The only reason I am able to do it is due to the fact that my last sugar test showed that they were in the right range they are suppose to be, and my doctor gave me an opinion of taking Metformin once or twice a day.

I have insulin resistance and I (am supposed to) take 1000mg/day. When I take them, I can't tell a difference in what's going on with my body but I have a skin condition due to the insulin resistance and it definitely seems to make it better. I have been bad and not taken them for a couple months though. :o Anyways yeah it's a good medicine with hardly any bad side effects.

I am a male taking metformin also I don't think it is a major issue not taking it for a couple of days other then the fact that you are not treating your condition. I would suggest you get your meds as soon as possible. As far as alcohol consumption as a diabetic you shoud not be drinking alcohol at all it is pure sugar and very harmful.
My experience with metformin are a few nasty side effects such as severe stomach cramps.
