Physical exam?!
Question: i want to try out for my high school swim team next year, but i have NEVER had a physical before. I am a female. i want to know what goes on during the physical and do they look at your genitals or anything.

I did sports all throughout high school and physicals were never that bad. You go in and they do a simple exam with your clothes on, like height, weight, vision, hearing, etc. Then the doctor will ask you some questions about your lifestyle, including your diet, exercise, if you're sexually active, if you smoke. Some doctors will ask you to change into a paper gown so they can easily check your spine for scoliosis, and to push down on your abdomen to check your ovaries. However, if you feel uncomfortable doing this you can tell the doctor and he or she will do the exam with your clothes on. No worries, it's over in about 10 minutes!
Nope, they don't look at your downstairs. They might ask you to remove some of your clothing to examine you, but they don't give you a pap or anything.
I know exactly what your going through! i was on all sorts of sporting teams in my highschool. It was something that freaked me out too! i thought they would do creepy things to me, But they dont at all! wont take long at all! don't be worried. good luck on making the team!
