Am I old enough to take Iron Pills?!

Question: Im an 11 year old girl. I've had my period since I turned 11. I'm asking this question cause I have short breathing, fast heartbeats, and feel kinda weak. That means I have anemia right. Well my mom bought me these Iron pills. I haven't taken them yet because I checked the bottle they come in.
It said 'NOT INTENDED FOR USE BY PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18'
Im really scared to take this unless I get some help by you guys. Please Help!!

It is fine to take one a day. It might help or it might not because when you get your period you get tired, fill like crap etc....And the iron pills will not help you for your short breathing, and fast heartbeats. That might be stress. You also get that with your period.Hope this helps.

It's fine for you to take them. Take one a day and see if you feel a bit better.

Your symptoms are not exclusive to anemia. Has a doctor done blood work to check your red blood cell count? Did the doctor recommend that you take Iron?

It's fine for you to take one a day, but would a multi vitamin not serve more of purpose, when I noticed my 3 girls dragging their butts I put them on a multi vitamin, also its just an easy blood test at the docs to determine if you really need the iron or not. Watch out that you do not get constipated as iron can do that very easily if this happens you need to tell your Mom.

Are you sure anemia is what you have? Fast heartbeats & weakness can be signs of other more serious conditions. But iron pills should be fine for you as long as you don't take a dose that is too high. Maybe take them a few times & see how you feel-You can get iron in raisins & children's vitamins-so it's not like a toxic substance. The warning is probably to ensure children don't take too much.
