I started about your age and didn't weigh very much, so no you don't have to be a certain weight. It happens when it happens. You mention your mom's side of the family, but not your dad's. His side of the family counts also. It's about genetics.

Every girl is different, you can't compare yourself to others.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. She may have only had the discharge for a month, but some girls have it for up to 4 years before they get their first period.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Why are you in such a hurry? Your period will come when it is right for you. My mother didn't start until about 14 and my sister and I started at 11. And I have heard that the later you start, the earlier you will end. Sounds good to me!

If you still have questions, ask your private doctor.

You could probably start anytime so be prepared. No you don't have to be a certain weight. I was 11 when I started mine.

You will be getting it soon; don't be so anxious for it to happen because once it does, you are stuck it with it for the next 30 - 35 years!!! I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not all cracked up to be what you're thinking...bloating, emotional, cramping, accidents, etc... I started when I was 13 and I am 39 and still going strong.

Periods r very irregular. There is nver a time u can rlly tell. Although, once u get pubic hair, arm pit hair, and discharge for 2 weeks - a year, you'll start soon. So you have a rlly good chance! Also, when ur mom 1st got hers is a pretty good sign of when you'll get urs. I'm 16 and I got my period when I was 13. Good Luck! Just smile! =)

Idk if you have to be a certain weight but i think that if you are under like 100 lbs you might not get it.

It will be soon but breath.
Mom 9.
Sister 8.
I started at 14. To be honest, short of the birth of my son, I wish I could send it back!!!! I've had more problems with it than without.
Live for this moment now because once it comes, you'll be thinking you want to send it back too!!!!

hun, dont be in such a rush because once you get your period you will tell yourself that you cant believe you ever wanted it to come. Your period isnt that great, I think its a curse.

I got mine when i was 10

No one can say exactly when a girl will get her first menstrual period, but usually girls will get it some time during puberty.

Some girls start puberty at age 9 or 10 where others may start as late as age 15 or 16. Each girl goes at her own pace. So don't think that it's a bad thing or that something is wrong if your friends start puberty a little earlier/later than you.

At the beginning of puberty, you'll notice that your breasts are developing and you're starting to grow a little hair under your arms. Hair also will grow on your genitals (pubic hair). In some girls, the time from the beginning of puberty to getting the first menstrual period may take only 6 months, where as for other girls, it may take longer and can take up to 3 years.

Every girl is different, and there is a wide range of normal development during puberty.

All I can say is that you should be patient, it will happen when your body is ready.

Good luck :)

Dont rush for your period because once you have it you wont go away until your 50. the color of the discharge matters because if its yellowish and has a bad ordor then you might have a yeast infection but,if its clear or white then its just daily discharge and have nothing to worry about and size doesnt matter because any one can get their period at any given time when your body is ready.there is other information to let you know when your period is coming is that you get oily hair and skin, wider hips, getting taller, pubic hair, and other signs
