Mushrooms and thrush?!

Question: A woman on the TV said that she didn`t eat mushrooms because they give you thrush. Surely that is rubbish. Anyone else heard it?

I think the lady on TV has been putting out a lot, & is trying to cover it up.
'erm...yeah...I got thrush from...er...eating...er...mushrooms. yeah, that's it. Mushrooms.'

Absolute twaddle.

Load of cobblers!
Thrush is a fungal problem - but eating fungus won't have any effect on the already existing fungus that lives in your body!

I've heard the story. Eating cooked mushrooms should not give you thrush but if you don't wash your hands after touching raw mushrooms you could transfer spores to elsewhere on the body.

Personally I think a connection between eating mushrooms and thrush to be extremely unlikely.

Personally I think she is deluded. Thrush can be taken care of by medications and creams.

if she believes that she will believe absolutly anything

The main causes of thrush are:

Tight clothing
The contaceptive pill
Sex (though it is not an STI)
Poor diet
Bubblebath, vaginal deodrants, soap etc.
Hygiene
Sanitry towels and tampons

To help prevent thrush it is advised to cut down on complex carbohydrates, such as sugar, bread and potatoes.
Also cut down on yeast-based products such as marmite, MUSROOMS, bread, alcohol and cheese.

So although they dont cause thrush I do believe mushrooms can upset some womens natural ph balance resulting in thrush. Hope that answers your question :)

what a load of rubbish!
